Yakuza 0

Beware the sneaky savegame corruption

While the game way really entertaining up to a certain point (feels like a movie with some combat and minigames here and there), I suddenly felt a bit of dementia during a quest line: Where the hell have my quest items gone? And why is there fish instead in my inventory now? All while simply using the regular save points. Turns out: Something unknown may cause corrupting the game, or in the inventory of the savegames, and by the perspective of losing time and progress because the game has some severe bug, I put it away. It's especially nasty considering that there are sometimes lengthy intermissions and cutscenes and phases when you can only rely on invisible recovery points. Be warned.

Worth a try

So if you liked the main game, and see this on sale: grab it. The good parts include: Another 8 to 12h of gameplay on new and nicely done maps, given you find the entrances. Espcially the Thespian area after the prison is really well done. New enemies and bosses are also good, except the final one that made me think of the new ability to respec the build. Difficulty feels a little raised but should not be a problem at all as far as you made it through the main game at that point The bad parts: Enemies sometimes hang around stuck in the world, dead or alive (easy points), and I even encountered crashes in the final boss fight. Also, the core level was over too soon for my taste. And the story adds nothing substantial to the general setting, or it was as porose as in the main game. It's definitely worth the new visuals and atmosphere, and gives you the chance fix your build again, and again. But if you disliked the main game, this ain't gonna improve anything for you.
