I never liked Tank-controls. i found them extremely awkward and clunky, just not, what I like. So I bought this game thinking, that the modern controls will help me. I was wrong. They suck. Really hard. What adds insult to injury is, that the tutorial refers to console-controls, like "Use the D-Pad!" and stuff like that. Even thoughj I was never a fan of tank-controls, I know Laras move-set. I tried to replicate all the moves via the modern controls and...I just can't. This is a game, that requires rather precise movement at certain points and the modern controls kinda make it even harder, than before. For me, this game is unplayable.

Not a perfect game, by any means. You can see, that the team was small and inexperienced, BUT you can also see, that they put quite a bit of love into this. The games enemies and facial expressions are certainly sub-par. The location variety could use...well more and bigger ^^ Pick it up on a sale. It dropps down to around 10 bucks and for that money, it surely is worth buying.

...your frustration-level is low. This game has THE WORST pathfinding-A.I. of any early 3D RTS out there. "Oh that guy is overreacting!" DUDE! NO! I play the earth-series a lot (Mostly The Moon Project) and i know, what i am talking about, when i say, that this A.I. will drive you nuts. Let me give an analogy, that is easier to understand: Let's say, you have a self driving car, that is powered by this games A.I. You get into the car, just to drive to your neighbor, that lives on the left of your house. It is just 5 meters, next door, okay? All, the car has to do is, to go down the driveway, turn left, go for 5 meters and you're there, okay? This A.I. will turn right...drive you around the city, just to come in on the other side. Yes, you have reached the goal, but at what cost? THAT'S the pathfinding in this game...for ONE unit! God help you, if you are trying to move armies, because the units will block each other. They'll cancel each others movement and they'll do so, while there are shorter alternives. I learned to deal with that, by babysitting my units and if you are willing to do so, this game is pretty fun. It has lots to offer, the unit-editor is great. You basically mix and match, until you have something you like. It is a lot of fun, IF...you are able to deal with the A.I., which is why i removed two stars. Yes! TWO stars, because the pathfinding is THAT bad.

Pardon my french but... What did they smoke? Are they nuts? High? Or just idiots? Look at that price-tag, i mean holy sh**! Ever looked at their individual prices? Dawn of War was released in 2004 and you want 40 bucks? I bought that game, when it came out and payed less and yes, i counted the add-ons. Some still have the price-tag attached (Remember game-boxes?). These games are old and i mean "Not worth over a 100 bucks (i'll ignore the sale price tag)"-old.

Lets address the title first: Yes, this game forced me to cheat AND IT IS A KNOWN "ISSUE". Well a bit further into the game, you (SPOILERS) unlock more biomes. One of which being the acid wastes, where you get Palladium, an important ressource. This is done through a questline, where you investigate a lifeform named "acidic yeast". What you have to do is, research acid-resistant flooring and then get close t a so called "acidic yeast root" and here lies the issue, or issues: 1.) You could mistake some objects for said root, but they're not! They're just branches! 2.) The root only spawns a couple times! 3.) The root can be destroyed, WHICH INCLUDES YOUR DEFENSE! This basically softlocked me, as my defenses killed the root (i apparently only had one). What does the game offer to get around this? Well restarting the game and cheats! I wasn't in the mood for the former, so i tried the latter. Tried a bunch of them actually, so i would interfere as little as possible with the game, but in the end, only the "unlock all research" cheat "solved" the problem and introduced a new one: I now effectively have played through the game :/ Only solution for me is to restard...for a KNOWN issue -seriously, there are people complaining about this exact thing happening to them-, that COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED! Not a great showing, if you softlock yourself after hours of gameplay, just because you do not know better. Aside that: The game is fun! Basically a watered down and much prettier version of Factorio, which isn't a complaint. If you are overwhelmed with the complexity of Factorio -like i am-, give this game a try and beware the mentioned issue. It has a little bit of Factorio, Starcraft and a Tower Defense mixed in. A rare blend, which is fun. I am just really shaking my head at the mentioned issue, as this should not be!

...and it runs well, so i do not have much need to get it here. Still, it IS a great game, one of the best, when it comes to Star Trek, alongside the Armada Series and Bridge Commander, which will be/are on GoG :) Sure, it is a bit dated, but the Multiplayer is still good fun, be it against Bots, or real people. The story is fun and it also comes with the expansion, which gives you basically a virtual Voyager. Buy it, it is worth it!

This game is a source for A LOT of fun...if you know how. You see, it isn't bad, but once you have modded it, you'll NEVER turn back...EVER! This is one of those games, where mods just squeeze SO much more out of what already is there, it is amazing. The GoG Version comes with the 1.1 patch, which is good and needed. If you want some recommendations for mods: - Nano FX 2.0 for better FX, like lights, explosions, particle effects and more: https://www.gamefront.com/games/bridge-commander/file/nano-fx-2-specular-fix - BCMI & BCMP. Both not real mods, but mod-installers/packages, that are needed for most other mods: https://www.gamefront.com/games/bridge-commander/file/bcmi-net-zip https://www.gamefront.com/games/bridge-commander/file/bcmp-beta-v4-4-full-zip - Kobayashi MAru. Just THE Mod! It adds SO much more: https://www.gamefront.com/games/bridge-commander/file/kobayashi-maru-1-0-full Some of this must be activated in the options, once installed! Have fun, it really is worth it!

Well people, who know me, also know, that i am a sucker for EVERYTHING Homeworld! It is HANDS DOWN my favourite series and Cataclysm/Emergence is no exception. While it wasn't developed by Relic Entertainment (the initial creators of Homeworld) it really shines in its unique way. While Homeworld was kind of slow paced, trying to tell an epic story, Cataclysm is something i can only describe as a "Horror RTS"! Yes, i mean that in a serious way! Okay it may not be a Silent Hill, or something of that caliber, it still is the scariest RTS i know. The story is so dense and tight, you'd need a chainsaw to cut the tension sometimes. Just a GREAT RTS overall and a MUST BUY! One downside is there however. The OST is VERY heavily compressed. Just how everything was back then and on top of that, the game REALLY lacks in texture quality on some of the Beast-ships. I don't know, but it seems like they had to rush it. Other than that: AWESOME game! I am SO happy, that you can find it now on GoG! Thank you very much for this gem ^^

Well what should i say? It is Space RTS at its finest. The Homeworld Series always was the crown jewel, when it comes to this niche of the RTS genre. So if you like Space, RTS, Spaceships, and spaceships in space in space battles packed into an RTS: THIS GAME IS A MUST BUY! IMPORTANT: At launch, the game was very flawed, BUT they've addressed with a HE-UGE patch! They even re-ballanced some of the old flaws the original had, like overly strong Battlecruisers. Version 2 of the game almost feels like a remaster of the remaster. It took them 8 months to get the feedback from the community and rewrite the engine, so the AI behaves more closely to the original first part of the series and the result: FORMATIONS WORK NOW!!! :D It took them some time, but here it is: Two of the greatest games of all time, remastered beautifully. It is really worth it!
