Settlers 2. Where to begin.... Simple to learn, hard to master. Decide how to build your town, supply routes, army, navy.... everything. This is one of the very few games I still play many years after its release. It is that gripping. Or not. You can set your little settlers off, then go read a book, or watch a movie, and they'll still be tootling around on their own. At $9.99 it's worth thinking about. On sale, it's a "must buy" for anyone. The graphics aren't much to write home about, but it is well over 10 years old. The music, however, is simply an excellent fit for the game. Fully orchestral, sweeping, majestic. This game couldn't be better if it made you drinks.
OMG. The amount of hours I used to play this back in the late 1990s, just to hear the German guards screaming their warnings if you were detected on your mission(s). It's a WWII-based action/strategy game. You have and control a small team of Commandos, with which you complete a series of missions to disrupt the German War Machine. The missions don't end with the completion of your mission : You have to escape too!! The gameplay is very good : You have to sneak around German sentries (killing them if you had to) without getting seen, or caught. Blowing up vehicles, tanks, ships, men, buildings, dams, assassination of enemy generals....the list goes on! The graphics were excellent, and still give modern games a run for their money, IMO. Definitely one you should try.
I missed this game the first time around. Everyone I'd talked to recently said it was a very good game. So I bought it. They were right! It's a little confusing at first play, but stay with it, and you're right in the middle of nasties, puzzles and more! Combat system is fairly easy to use, and is action-point, turn-based. Graphics are very good, even by today's standards. Gameplay is excellent, and while I'm not too far into it yet, I expect that will continue to be true. Well worth the nominal amount paid for it on Gog.com.:P
