Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack

Might be worth the sale price if...

Many of the most critical reviews below are very misleading. If you purchase Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition (BG:EE) at present you get a copy of the original 1999 version of Baldur's Gate for free and in there you will find a free 128 kbps bit rate MP3 copy of the soundtrack. This is the same free soundtrack you recieved prior to the EE release edition. With the purchase of this soundtrack, you recieve a 320 kbps bit rate MP3 and lossless FLAC version of the original soundtrack plus 7 bonus EE tracks. I compared the quality of the original MP3 version of the iconic Main Theme with the FLAC version and I could just barely tell the difference with amount of static in the background of the 128kbps version. Unless you are an extreme audiophile, you will be unlikely to notice a difference between the versions, making the new bonus tracks the real benefit of the purchase of this soundtrack version. The 7 bonus tracks, and higher bit rate for the original score alone don't justify the full price of this product, but at a sale price, it's worth a purchase if you're looking for more Baldur's Gate music. The new tracks are thematically very similar to the original score with high quality production values, Cloud Peaks being my favorite among them. If you only own an old physical copy of BG or don't otherwise own the original soundtrack, then the purchase of this soundtrack might be of value to you at the full price. The soundtrack itself is a phenomenal nostalgia driven score and worthy of five stars alone, but this product loses one star for a lack of value at full price. Note: I purchased this soundtrack through the Dragonspear expansion deluxe edition that came with both soundtracks, which is why GOG won't show this review as a verified owner.
