Don't Starve

Well worth the price

I am no hardcore gamer and I loved Terraria, but this one here is sooo much more basic in everyway: the steps from one tech to another are realy small. But then again you are proud of every achievement! - I got a fireplace - I fished a meal - I built a stone wall! etc... And then, when you think that survival it's that hard anymore you glich and -BANG- back to square one... Sure, that can be kinda frustrating, but to be honest: when did you save your game last time in real life?! The save game option would help this game as it would take out the stress, fear and fun factor of this gaming gem. Thanks for this one, dear developers at Klei's.

Catacombs Pack

In a game, far far back in time...

... Catacombs was not my first FPS, but I still remember t, because of one simple thing: it was fun! I liked the fantastic enemies and all the setting. Before this one I played some Gauntlet games and I thought of Catacombs as a 3D version of Gauntlet... well in some kind of way. To be honest: I was shocked when seeing the screenshots, this game looked so much better in my memories, but isn't that the case with every game you loved? You got to excuse me now, I'll have to kick some demon's backside ... ;)

Moonbase Commander

Load, aim and fire!

Moonbase is an interesting mix of the old artellery games like scorched earth and others. the twist ist: you also expand and conquer territory by shooting different structure knots just likeyour ammunition. There are shields and energy collectors, anti-air, rocket towers and spy balloons. Graphics are pure and rather simple but okay for this puzzler. I enjoyed that bargain I made at a local store. If only I were a bit better at htting the right power while aiming... Pressing the fire button - still holding it - still - and: go! Oh - too far again ... ;)

Etherlords

Simply a good choice

If you ever enjoyed a "Magic" like card game or any turn based strategy game: this might be a nice thing to try. Like in Heroes of Might and Magic you conquer resources and territory, but the fights are like Magic. summon minions and resources to attack your enemy and defeat his heroes. Graphics were fine, music also. I loved playing it allthough I never got that far - i simply sucked at managing my troops ;) First time I heard the name "Nival" - the company that rescued (imho) the HoMM series with part 5 later.

Uplink: Hacker Elite

Special and geeky

It's not a game for everyone: no big graphics, no cinematics or highly polished fps engine. But if you play along, struggle for hacking skills, equipment and observe "the hacking scene", it becomes quite an intense game. I liked the idea of a game that copies the "hollywood approach" to hacking - you know: things like visual routing on planetary maps, jumping from system to system while your programs and tools flash and beep big time. This game introduced Introverse to my little world. Thanks for that, because they are a source for genuine new gameplays.

Anomaly Warzone Earth

It is a reversed tower defense game

I got this one on steam for small money and it is a nice game: fair graphics, sounds and a good handling with a touch of freshness on the gameplay. You play on a mostly static map with a bunch of routes you can choose from. On these routes your team has to reach a goal or place etc. While going there you can decide to alter the planned route to some extend. On the same time you travel along your team and fetch items or place decoys and such things. I would call the game a reversed tower defense because no matter how to plan your route, the game will get you to trigger certain events, it's not like you are free to rumble through a city, fetch crystals and fight whenever you want to. Your team has to move and if you are poor at planning and / or reacting to events (i.e. bulding collapses and blocks one way you might wanted to take) then you might see your troops running into a trap of the evil aliens ... just like lemmings left on their own. It's a nice game and definitely worth it's price, but you might want to see some ingame videos on youtube, because afterall this here is only one more personal opinion.
