The Longest Journey

Better than the oldies

This is coming from someone who has played almost every Lucasarts and Sierra game, but this game has the kind of gameplay and plot that surpasses ANY other game i've ever played (on par only with its sequel, Dreamfall). (I know those old games bring back nostalgia, but being older doesn't automatically make something better) If you want a highly-immersive game that you won't want to put down, look no further. Best adventure game, period.

Beneath a Steel Sky (1994)

Just Play It

I could spend an eternity talking about what a great game this is, but i'm not kidding when i say this...play this game, now! It is just fantastic. It'll never win an award for feel-good game of the century, but if you like a game with highly logical puzzles that aren't too hard or too easy, and a plot that gets deeper and deeper and more interesting as you play along, get going because it's free!

The Guild Gold Edition

What's not to love

For those of you who haven't played The Guild, it is just a masterpiece of a game. The only reason it doesn't get that fifth star is because it can be a tad confusing at times, and the manual nor the tutorial will prepare you for the vast amount of stuff you can do in this game. Become an apprentice, master your trade, open your own business, branch out and do other things, own many buildings...run for governer, kill and sabotage other people's estates, attack other people's caravans...these are only some of the things you can do in this extremely open-ended, well-thought-out game.

Stronghold HD

All-Around Solid RTS Experience

What's not to love about a game where you get to build a huge castle with hulking walls, crossbow archers, and rock-throwing towers in preparation for a full-scale invasion where the enemy will try to fill in your moats and ram down your gates as you dump boiling oil on them and shoot crossbows through their armour. Truly this game will forever be a classic castle-building strategy that every RTS gamer should not overlook.
