War. War never changes...

Fallout 2 is a single-player cRPG for Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh with dark post-apocalyptic theme. The story in this game starts after less than one hundred years from the first installment, where one of the grandchildren of the Vault Dweller is chosen to help her/his tribe ‘Arroyo’ and saving them from drought, famine and death. The graphics, sound effects and soundtrack are similar to Fallout 1, but the gameplay is slightly different. The game itself might look hard in the beginning but will get a little bit easier as long the character advances, but it really depends on what kind of a character the player is building. You can create a character that has specific attributes, skills and perks, you can make her/him a strong person who can use lots of firepower or just rely on their hand-to-hand and melee weapons on the expense of speech craft or science experience. This game however clearly shows that you can solve problems not only with sheer brute force but also with knowledge and diplomacy. You will explore the northern part of the wasteland, where you will notice how the societies there are corrupt. You will find power hungry cities, drug mafias, slavery gangs and prostitution. It is up to you to seek the path of the good or bad… or maybe something in between. The game itself can be either completed in short time if the player chose to play the main quest or it could take too long until completion if every side-quest in the game is completed. However the game has a great replayability value and there are many non-linear quests in it. The interface is still hard to use like its predecessor despite few enhancements, but you will get used on it with the time. I would rate at 8 from 10. If you are fan of role-playing games and like post-apocalyptic theme, then this game is definitely for you, but don not forget to check out the first one too!
