This is a great game, but the technical presentation makes no sense. This is not DLC that installs to the base game. This is, in fact, the base game minus the beach resort content and with the additional buildings. Very confusing from a technical standpoint...aka...shoddy. So, one has to play the supposed "base" game with the beach resort content, and then switch to the Adventureland .exe, port the save, and then play...or start from scratch. Very confusing and not well done. I didn't want to buy the same game twice...just an expansion. lol So, 4 stars for actual value...minus three for this confusion.
Been waiting for this title to come here since 2018. It has been worth the wait. AAA title, excellent graphics, excellent sound and voice acting, excellent gameplay, and last but not least excellent performance on PC including FSR and DLSS. I truly believed it wouldn't be released here with what seemed to be ominous hiccups. However, here it is DRM-free and at half price. Get it while the getting is good and the price is right.

What others love about this game is what I dislike. I find the controls to be absolutely infuriating. Every few seconds, you hit your head and must start over from a checkpoint. So, while trying to avoid enemy attacks and obstacles, you also have to manage the motorcycle by tilting it forward or backward and switching directions with a button hold. It may have a strong story and a great soundtrack, but I can't be bothered to play it any more. There is an option in the settings to turn off head bumps, but still...not my cup of tea at all. I cannot recommend unless you like frustration.
Short and sweet....works just fine without being patched, but lacks good controls for Xinput and bad keyboard binds. Use the MGSILauncher, and patch the music, controls, resolution, etc. Once done, you have a hell of a great game on PC. Everything is here...including all the VR missions as a separate executable. Now, certain dialogues were left out, but they were only intended as a Playstation memory card trick. No Psycho Mantis reading your mind this time...which I kinda hated from the original anyway as it was too meta. Also, it's locked at 30 fps...but you really don't need more. After seeing this version, you'll grimace at the ugly PSX version. 5/5 (once patched)

This is basically GTA with copious amounts of over-the-top action, weapons, and dialogue, gratuitously sexy scenarios, and generally unrestricted gameplay. You can build a criminal empire while beating people with hilariously random objects, participate in mini games, and get your hands dirty with various sundry criminal activities. Though this is a notoriously bad PC port, I can honestly say that the GOG version is the best PC version available. The framerate is locked at 42 fps, and that's just fine for a classic console game such as this. As an essential improvement, it is recommended to install the Gentlemen of the Row mod by IdolNinja (RIP), the radio fix, and the resolution picker as resolutions such as 1440p are not selectable without it. All info can be found at pcgamingwiki Be warned however that your mileage may vary. The game, even with the mod by IdolNinja, can still randomly crash. Save often, and have a blast! The only crashes I encountered on my rig were caused by unlocking the framerate, and by having the browser running in the background. You may also want to play in compatibility mode. You can't go wrong by picking this up on sale.
