The demo is, essentially, the eerie and atmospheric opening chapters of a Choose Your Own Adventure novel set in the World of Darkness, focusing on a werewolf yet to go through their first change. It does a good job getting the story in motion, as well as serving as a fine introduction for those not familiar with the concept of Werewolf. Your choices inform the nature and goals of the POV character, as well as her starting stats. From there, you pursue one of several mysteries. The demo takes about 20 minutes, and it's worth looking at if you're looking for a bit of low-key horror to pass the time. Definitely whets the appetite for the full game.

Armello is gorgeously animated game and the gameplay itself is mostly smooth. Even playing solo, the experience does very much bring to mind playing a board game with friends as all the players -- represented by cute animals -- push to get to objective at the center of the "board" first and slay the corrupt king, merrily kneecapping each other along the way. Unfortunately, I haven't found it to have a tremendous amount of replay value over the months since I've purchased it. Customization of various champions is minimal, a third of the victory conditions aren't worth the trouble of attempting, and some of the pre-built characters are just plain better than others. And with the news that the GOG version won't ever add any of the new cards, characters, or scenarios the developers have promised are forthcoming with DLC, that's just become a major flaw. Armello is fun for what it is, but wait until it's discounted by 50% or more to pick it up.
