Great update to fantastic games. If you like Doom and haven't played these, why not?
Loved this game back in the day, and it's still highly playable with the fixes for modern systems. If you are looking for a hack and slash with sexy characters, look no longer...
This game is great! The lamestream gaming media killed this game and it's potential sequels launches ONLY because the protagonist was a white biker and his love interest was a beautiful white woman. That's it, it's the ONLY reason. This is one of the best open-world game experiences you will ever have in post-apocalyptic zombie environment. Don't pass it up, it's worth every dollar and minute of your time!
I'm not sure what others are playing, or if I have come in after many of the kinks have been worked out, but I'm loving this game. Pros: - Intriguing story - Survival-Horror is sufficiently scary and keeps me interested - Base builder element adds strategy to the gameplay - Voiceovers are very good (I use spoken-Russian, and subtitles-English) - Looting is not too prevelant but just right. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, it's easy to get enough materials to upgrade your base and equipment - Base and henchmen NPC management is engaging and your choices have real consequences - NO WOKE BULLSCHIFF Cons: - RNG missions are repetitive, but really unnecessary and enough materials can be found during story missions to largely ignore them except to give your henchmen something to do and gain a few extra materials. - Enemies (NAR) can see through bushes to fire on you, where you cannot - Enemies (NAR) carry hi-spec rifles that disappear when you loot them (just give them AKs devs, and have them break 80% of the time they are looted!) From the perspective of an aging gamer who loved stalking around Chernobyl and considers the Metro and Stalker series some of the best FPS gameplay available on PC, Chernobylite gets my heavy recommendation. Do not let this one pass you by.
Let's get this out of the way.. yes there were political sides taken with this game, not necessary but it happened because politics is everything for stupid people and stupid developers these days. This game is okay, but not nearly as good as New Order and Old Blood. The guns are fun, story is rabid dog crap, and levels are a mess. The well crafted levels and sequences in New Order are replaced by sloppy arenas that make so little sense that you will get lost and wonder where to go next. My advice? Skip it and replay New Order, you aren't missing anything at any price.
Played via Xbox PC Gamepass. BLUF: First Person Action "RPG" by the makers of Fallout: New Vegas with multiple locations, NPCs and outcomes depending on who you talk to and how you decide to tackle problems. Pros: - Nice graphics - FPS with a story - Interesting characters - Some character customization that affects gameplay - Some interesting sidequests Cons: - NOT open world. The locations are open with very well defined quest paths. - The center of the screen is NOT where you are aiming, it is below, which is very hard to get used to if you play any other PC FPS with a centered crosshair (99% of PC FPS are centered) - Story is lackluster and becomes very uninteresting shortly before halfway through. - "RPG" system is lacking. Character customization is mostly between what types of weapon you prefer and if you want to be good at lockpicking/hacking. - Shorter than I expected - Game doesn't give many reasons to play through more than once - Feels more like a slower Borderlands than Fallout: New Vegas - The one interesting and attractive female companion is NOT interested in getting to your male character. *wink wink* Such a let down... Summary: I honestly do not understand the high review scores for this game. If this is the "creme of the crop" than out gaming industry is dying. The game is not open world, in fact, it's better described as linear in wide spaces. It is NOT an RPG in any sense of the world, better described as the player character's skills are somewhat customizable. The player's skill choices rarely affect the story, and more or less primarily determine if you can lockpick/hack a container and what weapon you will be using. Verdict: If you enjoyed Borderlands and are interested in a story-based FPS with skill customization, sidequests and a little loot to choose from, then pick it up for $30 or less. If you are interested in a modern Fallout: New Vegas type of title, skip it and don't worry that you missed it.
Metro Exodus does what other FPS's have tried and fail to do, create an immersive and dangerous semi-open world that requires intelligence and strategy to progress. Having played through all of the excellent Metro games, I can safely say that this is my favorite. Highly recommended!
