This game has both great gameplay and poor gameplay mixed in it. The management part of the game is boring and uninspired and the ground battles are a mess. However, the space battles are great fun ! I've played them extensively in LAN with friends and we really enjoyed it. Pros: *Space battles. The mount system makes for a great way to fight...pick your target, get that shield generator down then the engines rather than "just attacking". *Graphics. Might not be as good now as they seemed at the time but still pretty good and with max FSAA the game still looks neat. Cons: *Ground Battles. Those aren't what you'd expect. If you're a fan of RTS such as total annihilation or Starcraft, you won't be having much fun with these. *Lackluster management. Not your average 4X game here either. To sum it up, the game could have been an all time great if the ground battles were given more time and polish and the map part was a bit more fun. Still, it's one of those few games that really give an impression you're part of the star wars universe and the space battles are very fun ! At that price, the game is definitely worth it.
This is one of the worst Star Wars games recently added by Gog. Sadly, this 4X game falls short in every aspect compared to the good games of the genre, even old(er) ones like the Master of Orion series or the newer ones like Galactic Civilizations, Endless Space, etc. The gameplay is the problem, everything is very slow paced and it's really not a fun game to play. Sure, managing imperial fleets and sending them to a system to war is fun but compared to the fun i've had with better games...it did feel pretty bland. I remember a friend being a big fan of this game when it came out but he didn't play Master of Orion II...I had. And i remember, even at the time, i felt very disappointed by the game...even the graphics won't save the boring gameplay as they were already outdated when the game came out. Overall, i'd say save your money unless you're a great fan and need every star wars game here OR need it because you loved it back in the day. Else, there are better games both from the Star Wars universe and the 4X genre here on GOG to buy first.
Worms 2 is a great fun game and most people know that already. However, this version isn't working well on modern operating systems and has a lot of compatibility issues. Mostly graphic and sound problems that will make it harder to enjoy the game. I do not recommend buying this version as you will have a lot of trouble making it work on your system. Skip this one and get armageddon instead.
