If I want to read, I choose a book, that`s more interesting. There are no dialog choices, only when you decide for a "way", and nothing happens at all. The only thing you do is clicking from one line of silent dialog to the next, and read the usual lines of a usual story you remember to have experienced so many times before. After five minutes I stopped reading and startet just clicking until I had to decide this or that, and I had enough after 15 minutes.
Super villain Ruby La Rouge kills Agent A`s Boss, and the Agent is determined to catch her. Until everything blows James-Bond-like up there are a lot of puzzles to be solved, much of them easy, some need a bit more thinking, somethimes it takes a second or two to remember where you are and where you need to go next, because there is no map and you have to remember by yourself what was where. The controls are super easy, the music is cool and reminds of Sean Connery, Ruby`s monologues are perfectly villain-like, as is the way she laughs. Not to mention her cool estate with hidden doors, boat and submarine. And the cat, which - by the way - is namend ... but that you find out by yourself. The perfekt game for some relaxed hours, I really enjoyed it.
Your job is to assemble and repair various alien artifacts. It always starts easy by opening the box the artifact is delivered in, and the more dangerous the artifact is, the more complex it is to open the box. Next thing you set the parts together and power them up, which always means a logical riddle, things must be moved, aligned or placed right. If you`re good at this, it`s fun, if not or if you have a bad day, it can be annoying, as this kind of games always can be ("House of DaVinci" was "worse"). The game could have been a bit longer, the story could have been a bit deeper, but I enjoyed it anyway.
The game looks really beautiful, and that`s the most positive I can say about it. The Story is bearly a story at all: A witch get`s three mighty books stolen from an evil sorcerer, who missuses his powers for evil things. The witch dies, but she has a daughter, who takes on the business to get the books back. There is some variation in the Hidden Objects. Sometimes things don`t have names but just a shape, sometimes you have to find just ONE object, bevor you can search for the next. The german translation has some faults, a "Fleischklopfer" isn`t a "hammer", so you need to be creative. The "mechanical riddles" are everything between extremely easy and extremely annoying. Two of the bossfights use some kind of "Tetris"-Variation to defeat the evil creature, which is ... something between easy and annoying, too. But see for yourself. It`s not that bad :)
So little explanations, so many things to find out. And when you`re done with the tutorial and start your Inn again from scratch, the first time I select "more information" in the menu, the game freezes and I have to restart my computer. Nope. I would have liked it, I know that, but I`m done with games which freeze while your doing ... nothing, but what you just have to do. It`s sad, because it looks very nice, but a game from 2019 should not crash while doing something completely normal in the course of playing. An IF it crashes, you shouldn`t have to restart your machine.
Looks nice, plays nice, but ... If you encounter something you do not have the ressources to solve, you often just can terminate the session and start over again. And there is sooo much to set yourself into. Nothing is easy, whatever you do has disadvantages. It doesn`t matter so much that you cannot reload if you like this kind of games, but it`s just not my kind. I prefer games where it is not so frustrating to get control.
