Mortal Kombat 4

Quirky retro nostalgia.

Was bord so reviewing. If you have a strong nostalgia for this game, when it released on to PS1, then you might like this. Quirky and Novelty. I thought it was not faithful to the original 2D style of MK at that time. But that change made it interesting in its own right. Playing scorpian for the first time in 3D, was strange and thats what made it interesting. I give it 3 stars for the new people who might take issue with the controls, or how things look. But I would recommend this because you might find it noval and entertaining for $1.45.

Flashout 3D: Enhanced Edition

Dont waste your time.

I played one map, five laps, and quit on the second map. Pros: Music is generic 90's trance beats , nothing over the top. Just prevents you from falling asleep. Cons: 1-The graphics are blocky, blurry, Nintendo 64 style. Seems it might have been inteded for PS2 because it has a PS2 controller symbol in the menu. The Playstation 1 version of WipeOut series, has better graphics. I picked up a shield on the track, and when you bump against things, the shield has no special effects. The PS1 Wipeout had shields, and it had special effects when it was hit. 2- with a controller, the ship is controllable. But the Physics are bad. You come off a ramp, the vehicle wont stay straight it bounces. The PS1 Wipeout XL and 3 had actual better physics. 3- View angle is poor.

Dark Light

Needs Work!

The Art concept is "okay". because you're basically buying this for its Concept, Metrovania feel. Although in my opinion they fumbled it. And art and animations, is a big draw to these side scroll games. Thats what sells these sorts of games. Without it, there is not much keeping my attention. Even with a good concept. I didn't get into games like Metroid or Castlevania because it was a good concept. It was because visually it had a unquie look and the Controls where Solid. From what I can see controls are fully customizable. But even then, the execution and organization of abilities comes off as Novice. As if someone made a UI, who've never played Metrovania style games. Animations are "okay". But they create a blance problem: Player animations are often slower than the enemy animations. Even in Ideal conditions prevents a proper or fair defence or attack. Let alone any meaningful dodge imo. Try using the parry mechanic. Its impossible to know where enemy hits end on your hitbox. And you have no bilities to block even early to mid level stage enemies. Some defensive ablities, give you a false impression they're meant to protect. Yet do little or none of that. The world seems flat. And backgrounds lack depth. Background animations are lazily made. And lack detail nor believable lighting. The backgrounds are poor quality imo. Relying on graphical tricks like chroma aberation and heavy shadows to obscure the details so that you don't notice its just wallpapper. Where animations and actual lighting would have been used, to create believable world. Forground details are "okay quality". But the Levels seem very flat, dull and boring. Player is animated Ok. However monster animations don't make sense. And you cannot shoot at an up down angle. You cannot hang on ledges or laders. Nor shoot while moving. The World map is a afterthought. Even for a shallow world, makes it hard to navigate.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Love or Hate.

During PS1, you got this because it was a quirky dark dystopian work of graphics art and sound. And it's somewhat endearing mascot character Abe. T he devs understood the limits of the PS1 with real time 3D graphics. But could create still renders side scrolling on a smaller scale and retail details of their side scrolling world. The animations while detailed, for what this was at the time, is also the cause why this game can be very frustrating as you try to platform from scene to scene. The combination of good animations with bad controls over them. You might press forward, and the animation may miss your intended target. Because you need to time when animations end. Which gives you a feeling of restricted movement. Ending up missing a door, falling off a ledge, or into a trap or gun fire. Because the animations are just slow for the short window of time you get to get out of danger. In that way it's a very frustrating game. You might continue playing this just for pushing towards the end to see what might make you quit around the next bend.

Mirror's Edge™

There is atmosphere here.

First played this on xbox. This stands up well even today, because of the first-person animations and voice acting was done pretty well. The soundtrack is like techno ambience which really connects you with the missions as you feel like this lone person in this dystopian story, which contrasts well with the somewhat pristine city of glass. The open-air roof top environments sell you on this big city you are traversing. The controls are pretty good and never get in the way of enjoying the game once you figure it out. Once the main mission is over the world seems pretty empty. Not much to do after that except some time trails which can keep you engages with a really loyal small community you can find on discord and other places. The sequel to this, Mirrors Edge Catalyst just ups the graphics a bit but not much and adds overall good polish to an already solid concept. But I really wish part 3 would release with next gen graphics and animations. On High Graphics settings, it can be a bit harsh on some PC's and you could even use ReShade to polish the look to your likening with post process coloring. Overall, for the price it's okay. But personally think this should be priced more like $14 today.

Ghostrunner

BAD CONTROLS

I have it on Steam, and its very bad controls. and i mean very bad. the vision is there, implimentation is bad. the maps feel dull and flat like a ps1 game. difficulty is too hard, and the bad controls make it worse. u get a game like this to look at it a little bit and never want to play it.

Cyberpunk 2077

Possibly anti Christian

Id give it Zero( 0 ) stars if I could . There is a side quest in the game that has you crucifying a character ( a murderer in game ) named " Joshua ". The name Joshua ; Christians should know is the Hebrew equivalent of Yeshua ( Jesus in English ) . All while citing scriptures out of context. So there is all sorts of possible blasphemous things about this I could write a book . I did not find it shocking personally however highly insensitive and highly targeted towards Christians . You see Islam does not get such treatment .I feel CDPR targets groups they perceive as weaker for their abuse. That is what bullies do. I'd give it 5 stars for graphics , sound and fun factor ( old school score ). Why do people think they are edgy attacking one of the most peaceful beliefs in the world ? Just because it stands the line against all the game promotes ? Drug use, violence, sex trafficking Need I say more ? No. Surely you reading this are an intelligent person .
