UnderRail

Do you like Fallout 1&2? Try UnderRail!

I am admittedly a big fan of isolinear games as well as exploration games so this really scratches that Fallout and early Black Isle itch in the same way. It has an expansive open world to explore and an leveling system that encourages exploration. The only cons I really have for the game are nitpicks and don't diminish the experience for me. The game has no fast travel so it can become a bit of a walking simulator at times as you haul yourself back to the closest settlement through cave after cave you have cleared out. Navigation is also a bit tricky because the overworld map is a touch difficult to follow and large dungeons don't have maps at all so I find myself getting lost occasionally, and the inventory management is a touch tedious. All in all however, I love it.

Shadow Watch

An Okay Squad Based Tactical Game

This game is generally okay. The interface is a little clunky and the graphics make an attempt at an interesting aesthetic but end up being kind of simplistic and hard to see. If you're really into tactical squad turn-based games (like I am) this isn't a bad purchase. However, there are much better games out there in this genre.

Shardlight

An Absolute Joy

This game is an absolute gem of a game. It evokes the feel and play style of old-school adventure games (which is a genre I adore) without any of the obnoxious moon logic or dead ends that plague old games. At the same time it has a very modern and moody atmosphere just dripping with mood and drama and emotion. I was genuinely surprised by turns the plots took. Of the classic era adventure games I feel this most closely resembles Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. If you liked that game and others like it, this is a must play.
