Stars in Shadow: Legacies

A worthy successor to MOO II Fans

We've all had our disappointments with Moo3 and the one out in 2016. I've been with this game since alpha release and it's in a stable, mostly balanced, format. The combat takes everything you loved about MOO2 and made it make sense. You can finally customize your starbases and even your outposts to further increase planet population. You have several most minor races that actually provide instant benefits or problems, depending how you handle them. The game balances missile and beam lovers alike, allowing you to load out your ships however you like them. The only weakness is the diplomacy. Your allies will seek to join you but typically when they are in danger of dying, or your relationship is that good with them. You can build your fleets or buy them as paid mercs. You can have a rather massive galaxy in different shapes, and have several opponents, even some that are your own race. Combat is turned based, and though there are no time-warp faciliators, or phased cloaks, you can still take on a superior foe, if you are careful. I give this gave 5 stars because for old Moo players, this is everything you want in a successor to those old games. My only concern is the developers have gone silent, but I am still hopefully optimistic as the graphic and game expansions, they last were working on, can only make the game better. With all the Moo-type games out there, I still find myself returning to this one over and over.

Master of Orion

Don't buy this game

The official website has removed the forum. The in-game tutorial can't even get past the first 5 steps without messing up. I cannot locate any discord, any guilded, any forum that can remotely help in any way with any in game questions. I have more fun playing Masters of Orion 2 than this piece of garbage. If they spent more of their money on actually developing a game instead of hiring high priced voice actors, we may have actually had a good game. There is no freaking research point to build a STAR BASE which means you are locked into having only 3 -5 ships as the AI builds an armada I am so desperate to make this game playable that I'm getting the unofficial patch. I don't even care if that breaks the game. Even Stars in Shadow is better than this.
