Ja, es ist grundsätzlich ein Walking-Sim, und ja, es funktioniert ;) Tolle Grafik, eine gute Story mit ausgezeichnetem Storytelling unterstützt von einem erstklassigen Soundtrack ergeben hier eine dichte Atmosphäre. Das ganze ist kein Puzzler, eher eine Form eine Story zu erzählen. Mein einziger Kritikpunkt ist die Länge- ich war in etwa 4 Stunden durch. Allerdings ergibt sich durch unterschiedliche Gesprächsoptionen für mich eine Motivation für (mindestens) einen zweiten Durchlauf.
To repeat what others wrote before- if you liked Fallout 1 & 2, then this game is for you. In this case, you won't need much of an introduction or tutorial either- just get out into the wastes ;) For anyone else- the 2D isometric view is made quite well, you can zoom in, rotate and shift. Nothing to ask for. Musik and sound are so far okay, story and delivery are about 3 hours dep into the game (just started- if anything changes significantly i'll update) somewhat better then "some other game". But, that's just my opinion. I just like it.
I guess there are not many games out there (if it is a game... i come to that in a moment) that leave you with a desire to sit on the porch and look into the evening sun, with a mug coffee in hand. This one does. I don't want to spoil the experience, so, no content discussion from me. Just some short pointers- take it slow, there is an awful lot of content to look at and set the mood. Some puzzles are a little bit on the moon logic side, or more precise, are somewhat not intuitive in regard of what is expected to happen as a result. Overall playing time was for me around 3 hours, and exactly this is what costs it the 5th star. I would have liked a bit more content. The content that is there is fantastic however. Don't expect adrenaline rushes, it's more of an story told by solving mild puzzles and exploration. tl:dr + graphis and sound + story + no crashes or whatnot during playtime - a little bit on the short side Would buy again.
Das Game erinnert stylistisch stark an die besseren Sierra-Adventures, allerdings mit einer deutlich moderneren thematischen Herangehensweise. Die Hintergründe gefallen mir wirklich hervorragend, die Personen sind ebenfalls meiner Meinung nach in den Gesprächs-Ansichten gut getroffen. Einzig Kathy's on Screen Avatar sieht von der Seite her nach einem Unfall beim Friseur aus- aber das ist wie immer Ansichtssache. Sound ist hervorragend, gerade das Voiceover ist klasse. Einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt- das Interface ist nicht so ganz mein Ding, absolut bedienbar, aber "Kombinieren" und "Benutzen" sind immer noch zwei verschiedene Sachen. Egal, keine Tragödie. Die Rätsel sind allesamt machbar, keines dabei wo man nicht-euklidische Logik für braucht ;) Storyseitig spannend, durchaus mehr als man auf einen Bierdeckel bekommt, und ohne künstliche Längen. Und eine ganze Menge eingestreuter Insider :)
The game is categorized as an mystery adventure puzzle, and while i'm somewhat missing the adventure part it truly delivers on the puzzle and mystery part. Without going into spoilers, i think i rarely met a game that really held up the atmosphere over the complete time i played it, but this one did. The atmosphere is gloomy, dark, trippy, made up by a very fitting soundtrack and higly professional graphics. Puzzle quality was good, with only a few real tough ones, resulting in (for me) a playtime of roughly 4 hours. I encountered no bugs or exceptions, on my 4 year old rig no technical problems at all. I would highly suggest playing this at night with headphones. The reasons this is not a 5-star review is the (for me) somewhat abrupt ending, which left me kind of wondering. But, this could just be me. Final conclusion : buy it.
