Overrated as hell just because of the D&D rules, the graphics and the general polish. Unfortunately the game is extremely boring and has little to no role-playing compared to classics like Fallout, Arcanum, Morrowind, the Ultima games or even dungeon-crawlers like Wizardry. Its combat cannot be compared to games like Jagged Alliance 2, Wizardry 8 or even earlier AD&D adaptations like Dark Sun or the Gold Box games. Its story and characters are incredibly mediocre, again, compared to Ultima, Betrayal at Krondor, Fallout or Planescape: Torment this is a piece of crap. But it had shiny graphics at the time, and eventually got a good sequel, so it's now considered a classic.
