When this game was originally announced I saved up all of my money so I could purchase it on the day it was released. I remember the inner anticipation while ripping the plastic packing off and holding the CD in my hand as I pushed the open button to install the game. Hearing the theme music prickled the skin and heightened my awareness that something awesome was about to happen. While Quake revolutionize the gaming world by providing a true 3D FPS experience, Duke Nukem 3D reminded all of us that polygons and texture mapping were meaningless without attitude. Duke Nukem 3D shocked the system with its hyper-American hero and irreverent portrayal of everything else. No one walked away from playing the game (or seeing the game played) without feeling something about it. Having access to this classic and the ability to play it on a modern system is pure bliss. Thanks GOG for helping to make the dreams of nostalgic gamers come true!
