Zeus + Poseidon (Acropolis)

This gets a 5/5 from me. I recommend a youtube tutorial on how to properly build a "city block" to make sure resources are given to your citizens in the most efficient possible. I tried playing it when I was much younger and didn't understand that concept, so that is a good place to start if you want to know how to make your city actually function without people starving or getting mad all of the time (while you have enemies attack your palace). With that being said, this game is very charming. Love the deep dive (but tongue in cheek) stab at Greek mythology and stories. You will find yourself immersed trying to please a god or hold a horde of wine-thirsty centaurs back! A game appropriate for all ages, they keep the crude stuff out, but give just enough to where adults too can enjoy it (I still ocassionaly play it after having played it over a decade ago at this point). I doubt we will ever see a remake or a sequel by the same people, but if they ever did, you can rest assured that this gamer would be happy. This one is a MUST HAVE for your collection, especially if you are into city builders with some fun not-so-serious backdrop, while still somehow making you feel immersed in ancient lore.

One of the nice things about GOG is that they keep bringing back games i really remember when i was younger. I played the hell out of these games. Pharaoh was one of my all time fave games until i got Zeus and found the humor that was needed to kinda make the game better. Great art work, the ability to click on people to see what they want. All the detail you could want and god that really do affect how you play. The fact that everything seems so smooth and perfect show why this is the best city builder you can play.

This is one of the my favorite city builder games (a genre I really love). It has robust systems that intertwine in interesting ways, and the use of roadblocks really lets you manage the flow of traffic (unlike the much-needed luck in Caesar and Pharaoh). Building temples is fun and rewarding, as is actually maintaining a full army. If you enjoy city builders, this is a must-have!

One of the best sandbox/strategy builder games ever, especially if you are interested in the Greek gods too it makes it even more interesting

Zeus and Poseidon represent a big step in further development of the games like Caesar and Cleopatra. Very interesting point in the game are quests like conquer this and this foreign city or lets say a quest to deliver 30 wine amphores to Thebes or some other city to make them like you more which enables you for example to trade with them and such. You also build sanctuaries for heroes, additional to normal city development, who help you to defeat mythical creatures like the Mynotaurus or Medusa. The best part is when you see the gods for which you built tempels walking around the city. I can still here in my head Ares when he appears and says: I have come from Mount Olympus :) Anyway recommend this game to anybody; be it casual players or more military players.
