A worthy remake!

I was a big fan of the original 2 XCOM games in the 90-ties, and this remake is awesome. After 70 hours played I see that I am gonna spend many many more hours playing it. I really like the implementation - many details were really well made. The characters and animations are capturing, the music and atmosphere is really nice. The gameplay and tech-tree are enjoyable and replayable (at least after 70 hours). Giving it 5 stars even if no Linux version available. And also 100% buying the sequel XCOM2 when it comes, just based on this game (I find XCOM graphics/art nicer than XCOM2..) Good job Firaxis!

Strong Turn Based Strategy Title

The Firaxis XCOM games and their respective expansions are all very strong titles in the genre of turn-based strategy games. If you lookup numbers on metacritic, steam reviews, etc, then you'll find that most critics agree, most players agree, I agree and my mom does as well. If you want a review of XCOM:EU and its expansion just watch a couple of the 100s of videos of XCOM:EU game reviews that were put on the internet during the last 8 years. I'm just here to say that to get the bundle for the current price of €6 for the base game plus big expansion plus smaller slingshot add-on is a no-brainer for everyone who hasn't played it yet and is at least half into turn-based strategy games.

Now all we need is XCOM 2

It's only not getting five stars because it falters in comparison to XCOM 2., which hopefully will be here soon as well. This game is a wonderful turn-based strategy game, with perhaps not as much depth as one would expect (or as much as people familiar with the original XCOM games might want), but what it lacks on that front, it makes up for on addictive gameplay and fun personal stories, both for you and for your soldiers. It's a game worth dying in, over and over.

Nice work 2k / Firaxis games!

Great remake of the 1995 classic. They managed to capture the gameplay experience from the original game, and with some simplifications, and made it quite fun to play. The addition of multiplayer is a big plus as well. Thanks 2k and Firaxis for making this great version of one of my all-time favorite games.

Rich Evans would be proud

A very well made turn based strategy with base building elements and tons of replayability. Is it worth $50? Well it is 6 years old. As well as the game has aged, that' still pretty a pretty steep asking price, even if it comes with all the DLC. Not to say that the game isn't worth it, just that it'll probably depend on your own personal taste. However, at time of writing, the game is on sale for $10, and at that price I cannot reccomend this game enough, regardless of taste. It's XCOM on GOG. Just buy it already.... Also, there any chance we could get Vanquish and DOOM while we're at it?
