So much fun!

This looked like exactly the kind of game I would enjoy when I was a teenager. I never heard of the game until recently. It is everything I hoped for. It makes me feel nostalgic while providing a new adventure. I spent hours planning my first party and loved every minute of it. So far I am through the first dungeon and ready to travel Arnika road. I hear this is a tough part and I'm looking forward to it! Even if I never finish, the time I have spent with the game just to this point has been worth the price of admission. I could see my teenage self sinking hundreds of hours in this game.

A must play for CRPG fans

The only complaint I have about this game is that some of the trash battles took way too long. Besides that, I very much enjoyed the character creation options and development, the story was interesting and a nice conclusion to the series if you have played 6 and 7 already. If you haven't played 6 or 7, you can still enjoy this game, but some characters/races/alliances/factions/lore, etc, may be confusing, but I can definitely assure you it is not necessary in understanding or enjoying the game. At first I was skeptical about the futuristic meets fantasy type setting, but it is well done and the characters are quite unique and memorable. If you do decide to commit to playing this game, know it will probably absorb a few months of your time. Definitely recommended!

Awesome Game

5 stars isn't enough I give it 10+ because it's the best rpg game I have ever played Graphics superb engineering excellent It's like you're in the game yourself love the dialog. The attack engine is awesome and adding voices makes me feel like I am actually there Wizards and warriors is one of my favorite games but this game even blows that game away nice job please come out with another game similar to this one nice job...

The party creation is indeed formidable, a lot of options with ensures a high replayability. The tactical turn based combat is principally challenging and fun, but poorly implemented. It scales horribly as you are forced to constantly fight mobs which often come in groups of 2 or 3. In the long run, it gets very repetitive and annoying. The game seems to consist mainly in having to fight spammed groups of enemies on end. Additionally you have to be careful what level your characters are due to scaling of the enemies. If you are new to the game you may invest plenty of time in the beginning levelling your party to find out that they have reached a level which makes it virtually impossible to the continue the game as the game spams constantly enemies at a level impossible to survive. Not what I would call a fun rpg experience. Too time consuming. A shame, since the character creation, the magic system and the combat are really promising.

Not really old, but still gold

I might be a little too young for first two parts of Savant trilogy so those games missed me. I did spend a lot of time in other RPG gems like Dungeon Master 2 and mainly Fallout 1/2, though, before I tried Wizardry 8. And once I've tried it, I fell in love. I absolutely love the setting. It's perfect mix of science fiction and fantasy world, little bit on the dark side, without being silly or retarded. World is huge and diverse, with lots of interesting races and characters. The plot is pretty interesting the whole time with couple of twists and some very interesting options. Character customization is one of the best I've seen (from pictures & voices to skills and abilities). And I can't forget to mention great music and sounds that adds up to atmosphere. To list some of the worse parts of the game I have to say the combat, although it is very well made with lots of tactical options, gets to be a little repetitive with all those respawning mobs. Don't get me wrong, every XP counts, right? But the combat speed (lack of it) makes it lenghty. Luckily there is a mod that speeds up the combat and also speeds up projectiles, which makes this downside perfectly bearable. Reminder for everyone: This is not a short game! Last time I finished it it took me about 45 hours. I definitely did not speedrun it, but I knew all the places, plot advancement and those little shortcuts plus I had the combat speed bumped up a lot. So, take your time to appreciate this gem, it is totally worth it!
