Extremely Enjoyable Board/Strategy Game

5 stars is a lot, I know but I think the Witcher Adventure Game deserves them. It's not without its flaws, of course, but I've spent enough time and so little money on it that I'm confident you won't regret purchasing it. I've enjoyed every minute of my 63 hours playtime. I love RPGs (Baldur's Gate & co.) and strategy games (HoMM), so this title is the perfect mix. The mechanics are pretty complex and it's really enjoyable because you get to improve. The fact that each hero has his particular playstyle really increases the replayability of the game and prevents any boredom. I really appreciate that the game runs flawlessly and that there's no imbalance. Luck actually plays a lot less role than what others may think. Especially if you're playing 5 quests games, each player will have his own share of good and bad luck. That's when your skills and your focus come into play. You need a good knowledge of the cards and what they could be to make a difference. Surprisingly, I've had a lot of very close games that I thought after a few turns would be unwinable because of bad draws. There are a few problems with online game disconnections, but nothing I'm sure GOG won't fix soon. Online play is the best part of this game. I can't count the times where I laughed my heart out with other players. Now I know some and we all joke about how Triss cheats with Teleport, how Dandelion has weird sexual tendencies and like to collect skulls, how Yarpen is only good with shields and how Geralt likes to bodguygard Dandelion. I've created a thread with some statistics on the related forum that may give you an hindsight on how interesting this game is. So, try it, add me as a friend and let's go kill that Striga together!

I tried the beta. It is a very boring game. It is a board game that over the internet does not make it at all. It takes a long time to wait for the opponents end up their moves and even when you act the game is unclear and confusing. In Italy the board game is called "risiko" is much more beautiful and clear of this version dedicated to the witcher. Personally I consider it one of the worst games ever made. Also taking part in the beta I expected the game as a gift. Personally, since I do not like it was a liberation. But surely if they had given to me I would have had time to change my mind. If you want a nice board game did well, with a considerable saving of money, take "monopoly". If you want a good game in general with € 9 you can catch it on gog galore here. Surely this is a game came out wrong. I do not understand why with the graphics engine Unity3d have not tried to make a version of the game for the mobile withcer instead of making a stupid table game.

Polished and Presentable

The game shows a lot of polish and really brings the mechanics to life. The music isn't terribly intrusive, and the graphics are pretty, but simple, and it creates a great atmosphere for the game. With four different characters, each with their own mechanics, there's plenty of variety for the single player, and the ability to play multiplayer pass-and-play at home is a plus. The online multiplayer, however, doesn't connect very quickly to other players, which I'm assuming is simply a problem of not having enough players actually playing online multiplayer with others (and will likely change over time). As far as digital board games go, this one is pretty solid, and is definitely worth a download.

Nice gameplay, but some flaws in there.

The game itself is quite easy to grasp - there are a few videos in-game explaining everything and also a rules section which should cover the few details not mentioned in those vids. Gameplay is quite straightforward - you choose one of 4 charactes, choose a start-quest and try to do the best with your 2 actions per round to get as many victory points (VPs) as possible. After you fullfill your first quest the game is either over or (depending on your game goal) goes for up to as high as 5 fullfilled quests. Maxing your VPs gained by doing side quests and killing monsters giving VPs is essential for victory - the victor being, obviously the one having the most VPs after the quest-goal is fullfilled. Overall the gameflow is quite good, and even replays are enjoyable for quite some time, because of the different variables (character, quests, developments, ...). So the game itself would be getting a 3.5 to 4 for value. My problems with the game arise from a few facts: 1) You can't save a game. The duration of some games can go on for over an hour, and it would be really helpful to be able to save. Yes, I know this is to enforce "no going back and sticking to decisions", but computer games go by different needs than board games. The game runs quite stable, but one game I had to cancel because the game wouldn't allow me to use my actions. 2) Online Multiplayer is via GOG Galaxy. I dunno, I support GOG with my purchases because their old and new releases are usually playable on their own, without an external service. This is not really to my liking - some alternate method (eg direct IP) would be really preferable. Also, there is no LAN mode, and the only non-Galaxy MP-mode is via Hotseat (at least something). 3) You can't set AI-difficulty, and the AI is, to be blunt, quite stupid. I played about 8 games sofar and I still have to lose a game - most games I won with more than double the AI's VPs, and only one time did it get close, and that was more because I had an abysmal early game (bad draws, even worse rolls). This is ofc not so much of a problem if you only play against human players. 4) Speaking about bad draws, the game can be quite nasty to you, and a row of bad rolls/card draws can really offset any strategy you might have. On the bright side, against the AI such moments at least make a game a bit more interesting, but if the AI gets in such a situation he is on the losing side for sure. Such a row of bad luck once brought the AI is such a situation that he simply didn't come out of it again, and I won 60 to 0 VPs - not a very interesting game. So, overall a nice game and my rating for the game considering everything is a 3. If the "flaws" are adressed it would be a solid 4.

Based on Alpha

Played the Alpha and well it's a pretty straight forward rpg board game, Objective Currency Mobs Helping&Damaging cards At the core it's a really good game but there was one big problem to make it a 5star, I didn't feel I was playing with someone I mean yeah they were there but I did my thing and they did theirs no way to interact in game (Alpha so maybe they changed it) So if you like Board games(random fun) you should try it but if the player vs player part is important to you well check not Alpha reviews :)
