Wing Commander™ 3 Heart of the Tiger™

Only question I have is when is WC4 gona be posted. Man the story ALONE makes these games worth it, 3 million bucks it cost to make the 3rd and 7 million for the 4th. Unheard of budgets for a game back in the day, they were the first to get into a million dollar production for a"game" past that its epic, nuff said. The ground pavers for today. Shame its not been given a proper redo. Now to get a joystick working with it now thats another matter..

When the first two games came to GOG, I decided not to review them. Don't get me wrong, they are good games on their own, and I have fond memories playing them back in the days. However, when Wing Commander 3 came along it literally destroyed the competition. This game was way better than anything that ever came out of the genre before. IN SOME WAYS. The gameplay itself is your typical spaceshooting gallery, like it was in the first two games. The missions are not very varied unfortunately, Privateer, or even the Star Wars space sims had a more fleshed out, and colorful game flow. Yet still, this is the game I would recommend over those. You see, this has a plot. A well thought out, cinematic plot. As cinematic, as it gets: WC3 is an FMV title, and one of the very few good ones of this short lived genre. And you play as Mark Hammil. Let me emphasise that. YOU ARE MARK HAMMIL IN A SCI-FI EPIC! Really, can anything get any cooler than this ever? Even if you don't dig the game mechanics (and the much improved graphic engine), or the plot, you're still Mark Hammil, and the fate of the universe is in your hands!

I never played this one, so I bought WC3 now, and I must say: Game is great. Graphic is still not bad, movies and short cuts arge great, story too. You just want to fly and finish game to find out how its end. So here 5 stars. But I have problem with joystik. I do set up my joy(Logitech pro extreme), and is working fine on flight decks...well all around ship, but ITS NOT WORKING on missions, where I need it the most. Just only fire button is working. Anyone have some solution??? I have win 7. Thx

First off, I can't really say that the story is anything new, but the way that it is told makes up for this. Is the story standard sci-fi action? Yes. Is it chock full of cliche? Yes. But more than the graphics were three dimensional this time around. Every character had their own believable personality, and I related to all of them very easily. After a while of just ejecting, these guys really will start to die. You will feel terrible about this. You might even shed a tear or two before reloading your last save to try to save them. The gameplay is, in my opinion, better than WC IV, but only because it is easier. WC IV is much more difficult than this game. Maybe a bad reason, but it is my reason. The story is well told through your choices and dialogue, but it's nothing too new. The actors more than make up for this. Even the names I didn't know played their parts like pros. For only $6, this is a bargain. Go get it.

Wing Commander 3 was a love at first sight. played one and two a bit was more into Privateer. this game got me hooked. I was torn between going everywhere and talking to everyone and wanting to jump back in the pilot seat and cement my place at the top of the killboard. the story is expertly told by FMVs and in-game communication when you're in flying around. space combat serves it's purpose and I enjoyed it, coupled with a great story and I could not stop playing and you bet, I went back and replayed 1 & 2 to get every bit of the story I could and got 4 & 5 and every extra bit I could get my hands on. that is how much I love Wing Commander. I truly think this is a game a wide variety of people can enjoy. and if you're a spacesim fan it's a no brainer. it's one of those games you need to play.
