I had alot of fun with this

I played through this game in a few weeks with roughly 85hours of ingame time and i had a lot of fun. Its similar to Fallout (the original) in the setting and the mechanics. + tons of sidequests + decent main story line (though it never got me super involved to be honest) + good ammount of easter eggs, jokes and references + feels like it was mean with the developers having their heart in it + cool chaaracters with good conversations + very indiviual ending depening on your in game choises throughout the game + great npcs + very open world and free - you notice the budget at some points (repeating character portraits, less to explore then you would think cosidering the map size,...) - some skills are just plain useless - equipement management, options, grafics and variaty are ridiculous

Stick with it.

It took me years to commit myself to finish this game. That doesn't sound like a great start for this game, but it's one of the best RPGs I've played in recent memory. If you build your team right from the get go, you're in for a good time. Here's the one thing I've noticed. The 2nd half of the game is 100% better than the first half and I have no idea what they were thinking making the first half such a slow burn. If you're seeing 1 or 2 star reviews, it's because the first half really isn't that interesting. But if you stick with it and make it to the 2nd half, the game just turns...awesome, amazing, and extremely satisfying. Give this game a try, it's really fun, the story and writing is fantastic, and it's blast to play.

Don't go in expecting a AAA game

Wasteland 2 has its moments and can be good fun, but I get the feeling the end product is not really the masterpiece we were lead to believe it would be. The Good What's great about Wasteland 2 are it's world, all the nutty characters, and the interesting situations you'll have to decide how to handle. You will feel, for a while at least, like part of your rangers, traveling around the Arizona wastes and trying to help out the good guys and thwart the baddies. All the while trying to manage your meager supply of bullets and healing items. The Bad What the developers got wrong (or didn't get as right as they should have) is unfortunately just about everything else. Take combat, for example, which is about 50% of the gameplay. It's fun for the first few hours, until you realize the AI only has one trick: to run straight at your party and let itself get mowed down. There is no sense playing against a smart opponent. You can try to use some tactics in your fights, or not, in the end it doesn't really matter. The Bugs But the worst part of the game are the bugs. There are bugs galore, especially in the later part of the game. The difference between the first half (which had a test beta) and the 2nd half (which did not) is like night and day. This situation will no doubt improve with patches, but the the bugs aren't the only problem with the 2nd half. There is a clear drop in production value too, with under-populated zones, dialogue that doesn't make sense, and quests that aren't nearly as interesting as the earlier ones (a fetch quest, really?) It makes me wonder if the professional reviewers who scored this game highly played thru to the later part, or were basing their reviews on the much more polished first half alone. Verdict Let's face it though, there aren't many games like this that get made, so if you can overlook some of the glaring flaws, it's probably worth a play thru. Maybe try to get it on sale once the game's in better shape.

Very limited and frustrating options

So this plays like your standard turn based game. However, it's filled with hundreds of issues where you need to know ahead of time what to do. Too many unintuitive areas. Some of the builds are also unforgiving, and the result by the end the of the game is that you wish all your characters just had super sniper rifles. The beginning of the game is absurdly rough as ammo is sparse. This makes it not particularly fun for this type of game. The characters you meet come and go, so you end up barely caring before you're off to a new environment. This feels like one of those games where the potential was there, but someone decided to make it 'hard' and ended up killing the one through annoyances. Some playtesting would have solved many the issues here. It also tries to push some modern social issues, which just seems out of place amidst all the other frustrations.

Should have listened....

So sad.. = _ [ Was really excited to get a weekend free to try Wasteland 2. I love the storyline, loved the concept, HATE the way they followed though. Like other typed, tons of useless chests that it appears you are supposed to loot to get simple things like ammo for the next fight. I was running out FAR too often and turned to fists even after being VERY careful when and how to shoot. Then I found out that you're supposed to loot the containers, even with other NPCs around. STEAL from them (and they seem to have no problem with you doing that). Even then, with the ammo woes sort of taken care of after robbing everyone blind I have the first big fight of a section that shouldn't have been that big a deal. Until my team of crack shots that I forgo other skills to be able to survive long enough to level the fun skills loses the fights against what would be trash mobs when they have OVER 90% chance to hit and miss time after time after time after time after time after time until I just gave up on it. MAYBE I'll get back to it in a few months (or not), but either way it's a perfectly wasted weekend. = [
