A gem from childhood finally completed
Recently, I got an urge to play this game again after so many years, but the cd (which I still have) didn't even begin the installation. This downloaded version, however, worked like a charm (I have Windows 10). Well, there were times it randomly crashed, but not too frequently to become annoying; saving every 10 minutes was enough of a safeguard. I only bought it for the story in the campaign, since not only was English completely alien to me as a child, the videos did not play in our old Windows XP. Now, I have finished both light and darkness routes in story, with hard difficulty (with the sole exception of darkness last level, which I had to go with medium, because f**k that 3 army zerg), and I feel a little more fulfilled. The gameplay is little unbalanced (healers, namely white mages, are op and mage heroes are superior to warriors and rogues in every way) and the opponent AI can get units stuck when you load a game, but overall it was a pleasant experience, considering the age of the game. The story wasn't the deepest of epics, but held my motivation to finish it long enough. Now, if you want it only for the gameplay, I would advice you try the second game, or the third, they honestly do everything better than this. In the end, however, I'm glad I got my closure with the story, and I'm rating Warlords Battlecry 5/5.
