Fantastic atmosphere, flawed gameplay.

The good parts: The atmosphere is phenomenal. Neon pulsates through a constant rain in a dystopian cityscape, and the accompanying synthwace music is to die for. The graphics are good over all, and contribute greatly to the feeling. The story is a bit cliché, but it fits well with the style of the game. The bad parts: Several puzzles are either dependant on a pixel hunt, or simply makes no logical sense and can be very frustrating to solve. They are also mostly obstacles to progressing the story, rather than being integrated. You are forced to make some choices to progress that makes the main character a real dick. Not having a face on the main character is an odd choice. In summary: If you like point-and-click adventure games, and/or if you like cyberpunk and synthwave this game is worth playing, but i recommend having a walkthrough nearby to alleviate frustration and so that you get to experience the whole thing.

Very good, but I didn't like its puzzles

It remembers me a lot to old school point and click adventures like Indiana Jones or Monkey Island. It have a similar lenght too. Graphics are lovely and controller support is very welcome. However, I didn't like the puzzles and the music. The music is good, but is too repetitive that you will need to turn off while struggling with puzzles. And about the puzzles, I didn't notice what other reviews says about the "pixel hunt". To me, everything were big objects (maybe they have been fixed in newer versions). The worst part were some absolutely ilogic puzzles. I had to cheat to look for a guide for some of them... and while some lacks any logic, there is one where you need to combine few objects in a certain order to work (which lack any sense, because all of them go together, but I don't want to spoil). That's the reason of my low rating.

Cyberpunk done right.

I bought the game 2 days after it released and late last year,I also finally bought the soundtrack during the Christmas sales. I have no regrets. 100% worth every penny. Sure,some of the puzzles are rather difficult because they have moon logic solutions,but other than that,the game does most things pretty well. (Plus,the devs recently added the Story Mode difficulty,which I still have yet to try) The visuals,atmosphere and soundtrack are superb. The story is a very "typical" cyberpunk story,but the themes and writing surrounding it are what make the experience memorable. Nathan is also an interesting protagonist. He's not a goody-two-shoes like most other protagonists. No,he's a straight up jerk and without spoiling anything,the ending is rather fitting for him.

Good but not great

Actually to be honest I was between 3 and 4 stars... I believe a 3.5/5 would be fairer but there's no option so I went for 3. Anyway, the game is good of course but it failed to hook me in its world. It's got great graphics but ALL the cameras are placed at the same place, there's one perspective in the whole game. More than that, it's quite zoomed in the character so it's like looking a masterpiece painting but from so close that you can't really enjoy the beauty of it. Having to move left and right (rarely up and down) and have the screen scrolling, didn't help at all. The OST is a masterpiece. It's a masterpiece album though. Not all tracks used in the game fit as background music or soundtrack. On the gameplay side, it's a classic old-school-type point and click. There aren't any hotspots (that's fine for me) but there is pixel-hunting which is very frustrating. I can't say the riddles were not solved in a logical way, but it's more like there are 100 easier ways to solve this riddle man... Why choose the most time-consuming and distance-walking one?! On top of that, the protagonist's hints aren't spot on quite many times during the game. Most time in the game is spent just hunting for pixels and trial n error. It just stops the flow and while they may think you play longer, you don't. You're just more frustrated. The story tries to mention too many things in one short take. I like the references in 80s hardware and stuff but I'd prefer the real names. Amiga 500, Atari ST and so on. I also like the references in "virtual" realities and the climate change. They are all connected. But they don't manage to make the connection obvious. So in overall each part has a good and a bad side, graphics, music, gameplay, story... But if you like classic point and click, go for it. Even the full price is reasonable. Just be patient and don't expect a masterpiece.

Beautiful, Immersive, and a Tad Messy

This game has great, retro-pixely graphics that really showcase the cyberpunk theme. The music is likewise excellent. Some of the puzzles are unintuitive and use a bit of fridge logic. The most frustrating aspect of the puzzles is that many characters behave inconsistently, or just not like humans. For example: In one puzzle, you have to distract a character. When you think you have the character distracted, he will react to you touching certain items behind him, but doesn't react when you do a specific thing to them. But, if he reacts when you touch the item, how are you supposed to know you can stealthily interact with the object when he clearly "sees" you? In another puzzle, you are surrounded by people who are effectively your allies, and they ask you to do something trivial for them, but they won't help you get items for the appointed task that are literally in the same room. Most of the puzzles aren't that bad, and the gameplay is smooth and responsive. Overall, I'd say the game is worth playing, especially if you catch a sale (not that the price is bad normally). If possible, I would have given this 3.5 stars.
