The game no one from IT should play

I give it 3 starts and no less 'cos it may be this games is just not for me. May be, if I had choose a different road out of high school i'd love this game. With the things as they are, this is like work, but a little more limited. The hole mechanics of the game is about typing and clicking stuff in a time constrained fashion. If you gonna go down this road, at least give me some kind of scripting or advanced text edition functions. That way at least I get to automate the repetitive shit.

Great effort and concept but not enough.

I tried. I wanted to like it. And it's good. But that's all I can say. It held my interest for a bit and maybe I'll go back to it on a whim...otherwise the text based format just got taxing. The concept it fantastic though. If they could remake it with a visual candy or other aspects that will offer variety I think they have something here. If you like something different....it's worth the money! I Like I said it's alright....just not enough variety for me.

worth paying for

This game is, as others have said already - unique. I don't want to repeat opinions etc, so I will only write things that other missed. Game is - in a way- open and random, but you only get missions for certain level, this actually defines what you need (more or less) to buy in terms of equipment and software, while strictly limiting how much you can afford. That means the risk at all times will be high. Spamming bounce locations is effective way around (you can just add nodes and hit about 100 or 200 if patient enough) but still backtracking can later happen without you being online, this will happen sooner or later no matter how good you though you might have been, and you wont be sure what hit you (usually happens few hours after a mission, so usually during your gear change). Plus all the things that other copy paste from each other, so overall a very good game, if stuff above doesn't throw you off, but I gave 5/5 anyway (form a new player perspective, as returning one I would still give it at least a 4 or 4.5 ;) )

Unique and Weird.

I can see this not being for everybody. If you're not a computer nerd, you may want to check out some more screen shots or gameplay videos. You basically get a simulated computer desktop and you "hack" people. When you're starting, you'll probably get busted several times while figuring stuff out. Forget to clear a log? Busted. Little mistakes can really bite you in the ass. Don't be afraid to ask the Google if you hit a road block. There seems to still be plenty of info around. Once you get past that bit of a learning curve, it gets pretty fun, with some easter eggs and oddities along the way. You can toss people in jail, hack someone's bank account, or even trade stock (to an extent). Took off one star for it not letting me customize my "desktop" better. Improved UI would be awesome.

Um...hack what now?

If you want to be a hacker, that's one thing. Chances are, if you are a hacker, you aren't playing this game. Yes, it teaches certain skills, but from a practical standpoint, this game neither teaches proper skills nor does it properly train you to be a hacker. Certainly, it is a game that is entertaining, and you'll have fun understanding the concepts and other minutia of the program, however, this is not a hacking sim. It is a game. Real-world hacking is much more complex and requires much more skills than most who would play this game possess. If you want to learn to hack, go learn from an actual hacker. Otherwise, this is just any other video game that puts you into the role of some good/bad guy bent on world salvation/destruction. Nothing more. Final Word: Demo first, Buy later
