I really enjoyed this game. More than I expected to even. Good voice acting, interesting characters, unique animation style, and just the right amount of humor. Good puzzles that aren't unfair, and the soundtrack is top-notch. If you're a fan of old school style point-and-click adventures this is an enjoyable if not terribly long one you'll probably enjoy.
It's a point-and-click game with quite simplified interface as seems typical to modern P&C games. Graphics are not the prettiest but it is a quite unique style and stays consistent. Story is OK to play as long as I don't think too much if it makes sense.
Some of the minigames are fun little entertainment, a few got me stuck on what I thought were a bit far fetched ideas. But as for most P&C games these days, I pulled a walkthrough and consulted it when getting stuck. No problem.
In some ways the game seems to try to push a specific modern political agenda, but not too much to make it extra annoying.
I got it on a good sale, had it in the library for a good while until gave it a try. Took me a few hours to get into it to keep playing longer. For a good discount I think its a fine game to get something play a little during a quiet moment.
Also worked fine on my oldish Linux laptop.
The game's plot revolves around a viral epidemic, and some sort of death cult (whoa, coming too close to home, given current events, amirite?)
If you liked Daedalic's Deponia series, you'll probably like this: The dialogue and inventory systems of this game work a lot like Deponia's, and the level and flavor of humor is roughly the same, too.
Your main protagonist has snarky, humorous things to say about almost everything you can click on!
You can even click a certain button to find out which objects on the screen are interactive, and interactive objects change the cursor when you hover over them.
For the most part, the puzzles were logical, I usually understood what the game was asking me to do, and the reason it was asking me to do it; the game was usually pretty clear about relaying its objectives.
Worse case scenario, a lot of the puzzles could be "Brute-Forced" with trial-and-error by simply using everything on everything until you solve the puzzle.
There WERE about 4-5 puzzles I had to look up a walkthrough to solve, but otherwise, I was able to rely on my own wits to solve most puzzles; maybe it took me awhile to figure out a few puzzles, but still felt satisfied after solving them.
The ending was kind of abrupt, and the loose ends were tied up, if rather unrealistically quickly; otherwise, it was a pretty fun ride up until then!
Each of the game's locales were pretty cool to "hang out in" and explore, especially if you like hanging out in the wilderness late at night!
The game took me about 2-3 evenings to finish, and, it's definitely a game you're going to want to save for nighttime, given its atmosphere!
How can a game developed in 2018, not have the following:
*No support for UltraWide resolutions as this broke the progression for me, as the part of the scene was cut off!
*Can't adjust the audio (music and speech).
Beautiful hand drawn scenes and quirky characters.
But set aside the above issues, I loved this game.. Good amount of puzzles not being to obtuse or weird.
Though it feels a bit unpolished, a few more weeks of Q&A would have caught some of the bugs I encountered. (Not game-breaking) though
While the game has an attention grabbing art style, the rest fails to deliver anything memorable. The story and characters are bland and forgettable, the puzzles are pretty easy and it is impossible to fail. It was just plain old boring to play. It is competently made but I cannot stress enough how you will literally finish it only because you already invested time into it, and will immediately forget everything about it once you're done. I don't hate the game, there just wasn't much to it.
