Very Enjoyable

I've enjoyed playing this in 2025. - The story, though predictable, nonsensical, and full of tropes is enjoyable. - Exploration is fun despite mostly relying on a single, predetermined route. - Graphics are dated but continue to hold up. - It's fun collecting salvage even if the choices aren't especially impactful. Some cons, both opiniated and technical: - too much combat for my taste, and the NPCs are excessively aggressive even on Easy. - poor weapon system, requiring 2 buttons. - audio crackle, may be due to the game's age and drivers. Overall an enjoyable game and worth playing through once, in my opinion.

Great game

I like it a lot. Just because it's Tomb Raider. Not very helpful, I know, but I play for fun and nostalgia, now at the age of 43. So... Yeah. Tomb Raider is great.

Uncharted Starring Lara Croft

Tomb Raider (2013) is not all that like Tomb Raider games prior to it. The game all but abandons the puzzle-platforming the series was known for outside of a few instances that feature light puzzle-platforming near the end of the game and in the optional tombs hidden throughout. Instead the game borrows from Uncharted, becoming a cinematic third-person shooter. While overdone in the modern day, and even at the time this game released, Tomb Raider (2013) still holds up, its nothing too special but it's still fun, and while I may not care too much for the characters outside of Lara, Sam (for all intents and purposes her love interest), and Roth, those 3 make the game for me story wise. If you have time to kill and aren't already flooded with cinematic third-person shooters, I say give this game a shot.

Different, but still good!

TOMB RAIDER the reboot is a good game, it's fun to play, it has a great setting to explore and presesnts an interesting version of the character. The game has its' flaws, namely the exagerated at times gritty tone and bloody ways Lara can die. Overall it is a great time, at least for the player. Miss Croft on the other hand might have a few choice words.

Holds up surprisingly well

I loved the reboot trilogy when they first came out (despite some Denuvo-related issues with Shadow of the Tomb Raider at launch preventing me from playing it til they removed it), and the whole trilogy being launched on GOG felt like a great opportunity for a replay. I always remember Rise/Shadow being significantly better than Tomb Raider 2013, but after replaying it, I found it held up pretty well. It's a fairly bog standard third person shooter with a heavy emphasis on platforming and exploration, and some light stealth elements. Enemy variety is pretty lacklustre - it's mostly humans with a few wolves here and there - but it's chock full of bombastic set pieces. The inspiration it took from Uncharted (which itself took inspiration from the original Tomb Raider games) is plain to see, and that's not a bad thing. Movement and shooting feels pretty good, and there's a nice variety of puzzles and platforming challenges to overcome. Precise platforming can be a bit janky here and there, with Lara deciding to not reach out and grab platforms from time to time, but it doesn't happen often enough to be a huge problem. The optional tombs are all single room puzzles, and it feels like they could've done more with the mechanics they introduce. That's got to be my biggest complaint - I wish they had a bit more to them than just a single puzzle and you're done. As for performance, it runs very well, though the menus could use some work when using keyboard and mouse. Speaking of which, it's one of those PC ports that didn't take KB+M into consideration for button prompts, and instead of showing the key you need to press for QTEs (of which there are a lot), it shows weird icons like a hand or an exclamation mark. I failed a bunch of QTEs early on because I had no idea what the icons meant. I managed 100% completion in about 15 hours. It's mostly collectibles and upgrades and is relatively easy to go for. Overall it's a great game, and I had a blast playing it!
