Only for revisiting your gaming past...

The 11 year old me played this extensively back in 1999 as it was part of the legendary german games compilation „Gold Games 2“. Nonetheless I could never finish Time Gate because of what could have been a plot stopper bug (couldn't move the heavy cross). Now, in 2020 I could finally play through the whole thing although I ran into another plot stopper on the way (open-door-mixture was wrong?). In retrospective I‘m amazed of the patience I must have had back in the day to put up with the partially broken mechanics (combat!, camera, falling of and into things, some puzzles are a bit random). All in all it‘s a pretty fun and atmospheric game but I would not recommend it if you don‘t have a particular nostalgia for it.

Pretty good 3D adventure

Being a fan of Alone in the Dark series and Infogrames in general back in the day I bought this game when it was released. I was hoping to see it eventually appear hear so I could revisit it. In short it can be summed up as AiD in Middle-Ages. The story is pretty decent and revolves around Knights Templar, being sent back in time to save your girlfriend from evil black knight and so on. The story is actually quite decent. Game play wise it's exactly the same mechanics as AiD - a 3D adventure game with some fighting mixed in. Even though it was released several years after AiD 3 the graphics do look about the same - that means pixellated. Nonetheless the game world is pretty atmospheric, the sound and music is well done. Puzzles are not that difficult but there are things you need to figure out. There's some expected pixel hunting made worse by having to be in exact position for some things to work. So watch out for that. Overall it's enjoyable game in the vein of AiD 1-3. So if you liked those games back in the day, then you will probably like this one too.

Heey you...

Knight's Chase I promised back in 1999 -when I bought not when it published - I will live long enough to play you once more.... Well 20 years has passed like a minute :D I think I can't play this game on Win 7, maybe on Win Xp, so as soon as I switched from Win98SE this (and many others) went done to the trash. Actually it's not a good game. I mean it's not triple A but has some elements you might like. If you like the Alone in the Dark series (I mean the first 3) definetely give it a go. Actually it's pretty the same, minus charismatic protagonist, Knight Chase hero just an empty shell for you, most in common the hero from Another World, T-shirt and sneakers. But the gameplay pretty much the same. You need to use your brain if you want to comprehend your advesories. You mostly have no weapon at all. But you have your knowledge which you brought back from the future, fixed camera angles, and improved visuals (compared AitD). Knight Case was an interesting attemp from Infogrames (I think one of the last publishers who really care about storytelling and gaming) to start a new spin off trilogy and see this enhanced engine is enough for the new AitD. In every part you go back another part of History, thats why the Time Gate title. So this game has some educational attemps, and more children oriented than the horror elemnt AitD titles. But sadly the game sucked hard, next year Resident Evil come, and Infogrames went bankrupcy. So the other two part never finished. But at least we have Knigh's Chase. I think its time to go back.

Great! I waited years to play this game!

I have been always fond of games from Infogrames studio (e.g. Prisoner of Ice). Time Gate: Knight's Chase has exceeded my expectations, there were so many clever challenges and well crafted scenarios. I definetely recommend this game to any nostalgic person who enjoys a good old game worked to the maximum where the effort of the creators can be noticed, nowadays it is difficult to find this level of passion in this genre, they only exist in Indie companies or kickstarter projects. Highly recommended!

Крутая игра

Alone in the Dark в средневековом сеттинге. Вынужден был купить на альтернативной площадке, так как здесь игры не было.
