Good time management/survival game

The game shows the tragedy of war and how hard life can be for ordinary civilians. Every character has some special abilities and weaknesses. It is annoying that the game is random because sometimes just closing the game and opening again can be the difference between getting sick/dying and having a normal day. If you understand how the game works you will learn that the game is not hard at all. I finished the game multiple times on PS4. I had a lot of crashes that made the game annoying at times but I still had fun and don't regret buying it. I also want to buy the game here but now I don't have enough time to replay games especially because I still have a list of games that I want to finish. For example Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. If you like drama, time management, and survival I think this game did a great job making a game that contains that.

Good game

Pretty good game, I liked playing it. Bought it a second time, because I wanted to support the dev, support their cause and support the DRM free version.

Optimism and survival in horrible times

I played all story DLCs and finished two playthroughs and this game is extremely touching. I'm very glad that it isn't just misery porn, but about humanity in times of war, hardship and dread. I have a hard time putting it into words, but all the elements together, the artstyle, the decision to take actual photographs as character portraits (or for random events), the music, the choice of events, the inclusion of difficult political topics like ethnic conflict, all this together makes this game a heavy, sometimes sobering, but sometimes also even uplifting experience. I really felt with my characters, even in the more generic classic mode without a typical storyline, I felt with them, I wanted to to get through everything. The only downside of the gog release is the lack of the Steam Workshop, there is a website however which offers downloads of steam workshop mods and with a little workaround these work for the gog version. Could be more comfortable though.

Good Deal for a Cause

Where else can you donate toward a cause and get a game 'free'. I decided to add all the DLC content that wasn't in the Complete Edition, so as to donate more. I have not played the game yet. It looked very nice in trailers. I am sure a lot of work and emotions went into it.

(Almost) Exactly what I've expected!

'Game' depicts civilian struggle during a war. It is dark, it is full of misery, sad things are set to happen. And yet among all this, there is a hope. Hope of making it out alive and somehow dodge a bullet. It has fairly simplistic mechanics (just gather some stuff to expand your hideout and help out survivors), that let one feel 'boredom' and 'struggle' of those fictional characters - each with unique story and mechanics (very limited though). My main issue with it, is lack of any dynamic changes to the locations, after they had been scavenged. It would certainly add some variety and made entire experience even more unpredictable. There are some variables that make each playthrough different though, and incorporating all locations from DLCs, was a great decision on part of developers. I'd advise to watch one or two online reviews before getting it (as I would in any other case!). It is truly the best way to avoid writing 'rage review' bit later. It is not triple AAA blockbuster, but niche and unique game, that is not going to suit many. Pick wisely and don't 1 star it just because it is not your cup of tea! I had a blast!
