Great adventure game!

The release of this game made me genuinely happy. Not only during the playthough but to see that my favourite game genre is not dead, and especially that the guys who made this game are BACK! It is as advertised -- as if you had found the lost floppies of a game from the LucasArts era. This is it. You'll get to play that game for the first time. It's been too long since the last time that happened. Most of the recent releases of this kind have been remastered versions of the old classics, while welcome, they aren't the same as experiencing a game for the first time. This game doesn't have the commentary tracks some of the remasters have, but they did provide us with regular podcast meetings about each weeks progress as the game was being made, which is a similar thing to be listening to if you are interested in that sort of thing. The playthough took about 14+ hours. The puzzles were logical for the most part and the dialogue is funny, so no fault there, as expected. I got stuck twice and looked up the hints for those parts. Both times I had a very good idea what to do but I used the wrong verb and other time I think I would've figured it out eventually. I hope Ron Gilbert and his Thimbleweed Park team will make more games in a similar style in the near future. They've earned a huge and well deserved break basking in sunshine sipping cold beverages. Definately a contender for Best game of 2017!

Throwback To Classic P&C Adventure Games

Highly recommended if you enjoy point and click adventure games, classics or otherwise. This was a wonderful treat when it first came out. Haven't decided to review it until now. Story is pretty humorous, well written, well paced, and with plenty of in-jokes from classic LucasArts adventure games. (If you have the option turned on). With a few nods to classic Sierra adventure games. Also has a lot of late 80s early 90s humor, references, and lingo among other things. If you're at all experienced with point and click adventure games, play it on Normal Mode! Casual is too much of a breeze. There's also a hint system if you really need it. I only have one gripe that has to do with an end of the game puzzle, but you can easily look it up or brute force it without much hassle at all. You might even be able to use the hint system to help you, I haven't tried it though. All in all a solid 5-10 hours of fun. Definitely worth the asking price, even without a sale going.

I had fun!

I played in expert mode. the game is hard, but that's because of the 4 playable characters. the puzzledesign is good and the story is awesome. But at some points I didn't knew what to do because the characters didn't really interact with each other. For example the agents barely talked and worked together except for one or two puzzels. Everything else is the same so I just played with the agent that I liked more. Sometimes I already new what to do but it didn't work. If your struggeling with that maybe look which clues are avaible in the HintTron. So you know on which task/puzzle you should work on. Also I didn't have the feeling that the characters acutally worked together. They were all doing their own thing and in some scenes they met and discovered stuff together. I don't know if that's intentional. The game is very funny and breaks the fourth wall a lot and for everyone who like adventure games: You should buy this. If your new to it maybe start somewhere else.

Ron Gilbert lost up his own...

So, I really really wanted to love this game. I wanted to so bad. I bought it on release day and IMMEDIATELY started streaming it (feel free to search for it on the SaveStateHeroes YT channel). The cracks started showing pretty early on, when a large part of the humor turned out to be merely referencing Gilbert's classic works, as well as his disagreements with the adventure game philosphy of his then-adversaries at Sierra. The weakest point, however, is the story, which, in an adventure game, is pretty much the cardinal sin. The game builds up a big mystery, only to let it fizzle out and pretty much completely discard it by the end. I was incredibly disappointed. I give three stars because at many points I was amused by the game, the art was actually very nice and it did keep me hooked until the end, despite my misgivings. Boris was robbed. Play Paradigm instead.
