Can go straight to expansion packs

I completed the vanilla game with ~100hr on console and later wanted to play the expansions on PC. GOTY edition makes this possible by allowing you to start a new game at level 30-something (with decent gear, items and unallocated ability points) in a world where the main storyline doesn't exist however all vanilla side-quests and the meaty expansion quests are playable. A handy convenience and incentive to jump back into one of the most polished action-adventure-rpg's ever

How to fuck it up big time!

I purchased the Witcher 3 GOTY Edition. Enjoyed the game, played nearly 300 hours. Now after pausing a year I wanted to continue to play. But GOG Galaxy says: The game isn't installed anymore. Huh? How does that come? Seems like I a got an upgrade for my GOTY Edition to the Complete Edition - and the GOTY Edition is wiped from the GOG catalogue which means I haven't installed any Witcher 3 game at all. "Thank" for the unwanted upgrade. So let's install another time Witcher 3. This time the complete edition. It is only another 56 GB... After installation I have to make an account chaining with a CD project launcher thingi. Why? Ok, I don't care at this point. I just want to play Witcher 3. Finally the game reall starts. It seems to have properly located my save games. I can click on "Continue". And then comes the message "You haven't installed all necessary DLCs for this savegame to be loaded". I have installed the complete edition. C-O-M-P-L-E-T-E... Sure, somehow I should be able to fiddle with my installation so the save games load. But I don't want to do that. I don't wamt to search google and the game forums to find a solution written by some other desperate user. Thank you for burning this game for me GOG or CDProject or whoever is responsible for this upgrade crap!

Greatest Game of all time?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is certainly deserving of it's GOTY award... it may well be the greatest game of all time (so far)... A masterful piece of story-telling... wonderful gameplay, graphics, music, lore... the list goes on. The main storyline is poignant, complex & deeply moving... and so too are many of the side quests/stories (which is very impressive & something that most games aren't able to achieve) Words cannot properly explain the utter masterpiece that this game is. You've got to play it for yourself to understand.

A Timeless Masterpiece

I got this game for free when I built my PC along with GTA V. Never heard of it before, or any of the books or other games. Started playing GTA V (loved it) and then switched to this game out of curiosity. After two weeks of playing it, I stopped. Instead, I bought every Witcher book that was released at that time, started reading through them and once that was done I bought the first and second games and played through them (albeit, only once). Only after ALL that was done, and it took me about a year, did I start a new game and started playing. The Witcher 3 isn't a game, it's really a whole world. The characters, locations, concepts, they're all connected to eachother in such a way that going from the books to the games is a flawless (and encouraged) experience. The sidequests are indistinguishable from the main in terms of quality, and, while I haven't finished this game, I think it's more of a fear of it ending then one of non-enjoyment. The only downside I have to this game is the combat. It does get a little repetitive and I think that there are a few optimizations that could've made this slightly better. For example, I've seen a mod that automatically applies oils and poitions if you have them/can make them to enemies you know how to fight against. That's pretty nifty, and would prevent the slowdown of having to open a menu. Overall, if you like RPGs, if you like good, questioning stories, no doubt you should pick this up. It can be a little slow/confusing at the start, but I still remember almost every quest I've done in this game and it's well worth the investment in both time and money.
