Bugged release, but otherwise enjoyable

So far my time with Witcher II has not been a pleasant one. I'm forced to play in windowed mode because fullscreen eats performance like mad, my other machine just runs at a crawl to begin with (both strong machines, and no matter how I change the options). A patch is apparently in the making, but it adds that the downloader in the launcher is notoriously buggy itself, too. Ignoring bugs for a moment, and ignoring some quirks of the combat system (which are, again, likely bugs), I am impressed with Witcher II. It's presentation is very well done, the game is absolutely stunning at higher details. Minor choices do come back as - minor - results later on, the gameplay is interesting and - luckily - actually fairly difficult, and the story seems interesting from what I've seen so far. The only criticism I could level against the actual design of the game is that the Witcher's neutrality has been shoved away entirely. There is rarely a way to stay out of something, now.

Paying for game I'll PROBABLY play

I got "The Witcher" as part of a package with my video card a long time ago (8800GTS 512). Never finished it, but loved the graphics/artwork/character models. I've gotten nothing but rave and praise from people I know who have downloaded and played it last night. :) DX11 support also influenced my decision to buy - screenshots look very good, gameplay looks very good. I'm paying for this game to promote something I believe in: a developer developing for their fan base. Today I will pay $10 for a legit copy of any crappy game and never play it, rather than put the effort into finding a working torrent/cracked/virus-free hack, or pay $60 for a game that is worth paying for (Starcraft 2). Some games aren't worth freeloading - i.e. Crysis 2. :) Cheers to CD Projekt, and here's hoping to their future success.

The wait is over, i can finaly purchased my Witcher 2 copy. Thx GOG for the free stuff - 3 free games for EU customers ! It's sad that the game has already made his way to torrent sites :(

horrible optimization

you cant play this thing with middle settings without a lagging even with a fucking NASA computer, very buggy and i always got troubles with savings, and Gog, stop already asking me if im 18 every time i visit a game page its so fucking annoying.
