A game of all time, partly overrated

I "enjoyed" my time playing but the the amount of people that say that this is the "Darkest" VN out there are actually capping. I don't say this trying to sound edgy anything like that but it is objectively not as crazy as people make it out to be. The literal descriptions and breakdowns of this VN are scarier sounding that what the story actually entails. Side note, I keep seeing YT videos of people being like "Saya No Uta Ruined My Life" or "The Darkest Visual Novel Ever!", like really? A visual novel is what ruined your life? I get it, they do it for the sake of getting more clicks but this is just a Psychological VN with quite a bit of Gore in it. If you're looking for something that's heavier on the adult topics then go on ahead for this one, I found it alright but it was it worth the money I spent $14.99 (RM60+)? No, I'm sorry- it wasn't

Disturbing but brief

It's a visual novel with a hell of a premise, and even if you know the famous twist, the story still goes in some surprising directions. Be aware that while the horror is already pretty freaky, the sex scenes (especially those of the non-consentual kind) are the most disturbing parts of the game and can be hard to get through. Only 3 choices in the whole thing, with 2 being right at the end, and it only took me about 5 hours to finish. Good if you prefer shorter stories. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a horror VN that doesn't get all meta, and if you have the stomach for graphic depictions of really messed up acts.

Completely love it <3

As both L*licon and fan of Urobuchi dark tragedy writing, I completely love this VN. The story is so thrilling, it keep me addicted and want to know what's next. The xxx scene is so hot that my other hand always busy not playing the game and play something else. Saya is the best waifu <3

Lovecraftian Love Story

Song of Saya is a well known visual novel for a reason. The story and the premise of the game are interesting and captivating. The insanity and maddening hellscape affecting Fuminori (main character mentioned in the game's description) are conveyed to the player very well. To balance out the maddening and grostique scenes, you follow the story from the perspective of few other characters as well. The change of the view point both gives the player a respite from the horror and helps with pacing the story. The game's plot heavily revolves around an extremely weird love story. The game might be classified as an eroge by some, but that isn't exactly how I would classify it. The sex scenes in the game are - in a sense - necessary for the plot. Unfortunately I felt like they were somewhat poorly executed and there are too many of them. They do help in conveying their plot purpose relatively well and they also slighlty help with the horror aspect of the story. Song of Saya is a more linear visual novel and features only few choices during the gameplay. There are a few endings to the game, and they left me wondering what will be happening next. I was happily surprised that a few key details that I noticed before them becoming relevant actually had plot relevance - the foreshadowing was very well executed. I can absolutely recommend Song of Saya to anyone who's into dark stories. My only major critisims are the relatively bad use of the sex scenes and the lack of Japanese language text option. The writing during a few sex scenes was very bad, but I guess that either it was on purpose or the translation team fault.

Wont start on Win 11

Again, really want to play this, but it just won't run on Windows 11, I think its possible for GOG and developers to mention which Windows version it will run on and which graphics cards, modifying something in like adding permissions in the technical side of Windows to some unknown part of the device manager is NOT a way to solve the problem. Either game needs to be updated by the developer, or a clear disclaimer needs to be added. I'm sure its an awesome game, but I am forced to try the refund route for now. Once they update to Win 11, I will buy it again.
