Great game with sparkling dialogue

Reminds me of the humour that Fallout 1 had with NPCs, keep talking to them and they all say funny sh!t.

Great setting, not so great game

To me the trailer for this game was the best thing about it. The space adventure filled with humor in the world run by corporations? Sign me up! Unfortunately the game itself is lacking in many parts and does not hold up to the feelings that were promised. Although there are some very funny moments and some interesting stories, most of it is average and kind of boring. The game is filled with a reasonable amount of content, but overall it is just not that interesting. The companions are lacking depth and soul and trying to give them a bit more personality with one sidequest does not help much. They feel artifical in comparison to companions from games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age. Weapons on the other hand are great. They feel good, they sound good and bullet time feature is very entertaining. Enemies...not so much. They are repetitive and not very challenging. The game is generaly very easy even on hard difficulty setting and you'll have more ammo and consumables than you'll ever need. The world is pretty interesting from a lore standpoint. There are some really great ideas there, but what you actually see is not doing it justice. But one of my biggest grudges is with the music. Combat music is awesome, but since the combat takes on average 10 seconds, you don't get to enjoy it very much. But the music for exploring is just dull. The game is really missing some sort of radio like Fallout games have. I would recommend putting on some of your own music. The second grudge I have is about the game mechanics and design itself. There are many various little things that are annoying. Like you cannot jump on the ladder, the conversations between NPCs are being repeated over and over, you cannot use your companion's abilities if you change their equipment, quest marker doesn't show you the quickest way, bad AI etc. The game was okay, but it could have been so much more with an interesting setting like this.

Very good

I really enjoyed this game. The atmosphere is great with satirical company slogans and humoristic dialogues. Skills are frequently used in dialogues and for getting things done. The game mechanics work reasonably well. I would have liked a more in-depth manual and more control over the hechmen, but then nothing is ever perfect. There are some boring quests in the middle of the game, but they are non-essential side quests. Keep going and ignore them or get them done - it gets better again. Overall I haven't played a better space RPG since Mass Effect 2. It certainly beats Andromeda. Having said that, be sure to read the other reviews. Your taste may not be the same as mine.

Weirdly enough, combines the far future and space faring of Starfield, and the dystopian "Corpos are scum" theme from Cyberpunk 2077, and it came out before both. Jokes aside, The Outer Worlds is a semi-open world FPS RPG where Main Character Protagonist Mc-Gee is thawed out by Doc Brown's wacky descendant, who sends you on a galaxy spanning quest to fetch more drug- chemicals to revive your fellow colonists still in stasis, many of which are brilliant scientists and engineers that can help humanity with dire impending problems, that the corrupt government is too stubborn to solve on the account of their own heads being too far up their own asses. I made my character The Adoring Fan (and named him Adora) from TES IV Oblivion and Starfield because he is a dimension hopping immortal wizard who is keen on saving the doomed dimensions of existence, and also because it's funny. You can whack things with 1 or 2 handed whacking devices, shoot an unvaried amount of enemies with a variety of guns, while using NotVatsTM bullet time to make precision strikes with added force and status effects, and then put your desired skill points into your nuclear persuasion skill to Speech 100 your way to victory. Then get ripped off by merchants, like any good RPG, will charge you your literal internal organs for just a bite to eat, and then give you 5 cents in return for something actually valuable, then causing you to laugh because you just realized, that kind of shit is true to life COUGH GAMESTOP. Then in your off time, you and two party members can ragdoll something 10 times your size into the sky because Tactical Time Dilation + Melee Attack said so. The game is certainly a bit weak and hollow in some areas, the variety isn't great, but it's a decent enough RPG, and doesn't overstay it's welcome at about 25-40 hours long. Worth it on a sale. Here's to hoping the sequel is much richer in just about all aspects.
