The Longest Journey
Love the game. Ran into issues on Windows 11. If you overwrite a save or click the quit game buttone the game freezes. You have to force quit the game from taskmanager if you able to get to it and relaunch the program. Due to accendently hitting the quit game since its so close to options best to use f2 to access save menu and save after key points.

All-Time Classic
Just started a new playthrough after years but the characters, story and atmosphere are just as charming as decades ago. It's magical being transported back to the spiritual experience of this game.

Excellent game, only one problem found
Lets get the bad out of the way first - even for it's time the graphics were average. Extremely good to look at and the designs are excellent but still average. There's also a glitch with a portal but that should be fixed in this release (definitely the one I'd buy). The good is the imagination behind it. Blue willys rotating in the beginning fmv aside, the imagination shown in the storytelling, the character behaviour, conversations and designs generally is wonderful. You really feel like these are real people. They act and react the way real people do and you feel that they have history and backstory, which in turn fleshes out the worlds. Puzzles are well balanced, occasionally irritating until you realise what is expected from you, and make sense to the areas they are in - nothing feels like it's been crammed in to fill game time. Don't be put off with the fantasy tab put on this game. It's dark and not for kids and has a hefty dose of sci-fi in it. Buy this, buy Dreamfall (the sequel) and hope that one day they finish the final part of the series (apparently it now has arts council funding and will be online, but things have gone quiet, fingers-crossed!).

Ragnar Tørnquist is very talented
The Longest Journey was my first real point-and-click adventure title. It will forever be my favorite as well. This game works great as a standalone entry despite the Dreamfall spin-off sequels, which had a different protagonist, Zoe. Personally, the original's April Ryan was the superior character of the two. Also, the Dreamfall games ditched the traditional point-and-click formula and pre-rendered backdrops, which was kind of a let down. TLJ still stands on its own, but I'd recommend checking out the other two as well. Ragnar Tørnquist is one of a kind and a remarkable writer with an ambitious story to tell. The settings and characters in the original are all top-notch. Truly a very immersive game for its time.
