Really good game
A bit clunky and initially didn't think I would like it but I kept playing and within less than an hour I started to enjoy it. I am not particularly paying any interest to the story either but just enjoying the ride. I cant even remember when I got this game but I finished the first one on Steam and realised I had this here... Recommended

shoot your demons in the face
Just finished it yesterday. The more I think about it, the more I love it. Gameplay itself is good, weapons are doing what they are supposed to do, survival thing is that you are picking your battles, limited supplies don't really allow you to fight with everything. It is fun. But the game really shines in the themes it's showing. You learn to fight some twisted monsters, yes, but more important, you learn to fight your own demons. You are facing your traumas, you must do that, to be able to move forward. And this part is still with you, when the game's finished, like after a good movie. I strongly recommend it.

Superb
This is an excellent game. The first Evil Within was a bit scarier, but it had a few too many instant kills and somewhat cheap difficulty in spots. Great but not excellent. This sequel carries the good from the first game and makes it more interesting. You come to care more about the characters, and you have a bit more freedom (not entirely) to explore and deal with the horrors. When this one ends, you have a pretty good feeling, and there's even a teaser at the end that promises more (we can only hope). The graphics and sound are solid here. The difficulty seems fairer, and easier than the first game. You have plenty of action and stealth elements as well. There's plenty to like, and the few puzzles are not that hard at all. Fully recommended. It's got that B-movie charm similar to the feel from the old Resident Evil games.

Pretty good!
A bit less insanity than in the first one, but still a very good story. Gameplay is mostly the same, which is good. Certain sections could use an extra save point, and I wish the camera wasn't trying to auto-rotate towards what I'm "supposed" to look at, but otherwise no issues. Also it works great on Linux via Proton (Lutris) and with a controller.

twisted but not twisted enough
The Evil Within 2 is a great sequel. It is not as twisted as the first title but just enough to enjoy a good survival ride. Apart from the semi open-world design with lots of exploring and crafting to do, it still delivers a solid horror experience. Nightmare is where the game shines. Survival is the best way to start. It is less difficult than the first title, but still has its challenges. There are moments were the AI is dumb, and the game gets a bit easier. The story, has its moments, not to complex, just enough for a good action. You will run and hide, die and keep trying until you get the hang of it. It does have its dull moments and stuff gets repeated but like i said, it still has a lot to offer in terms of content. It is really a shame that a third installment never occurred, maybe with a fresh story.
