The Curse of Monkey Island™

This is easily the best of all Monkey Island games, past and present. The game introduces us, for the first time, Dominic Armato as the (perfect) voice of Guybrush Threepwood. The visual style of the game is stunning, the puzzles are funny, voice acting of all characters is great, and last, but not least, Murray The Demonic Skull makes his debut!

He is Guybrush Threepwood, mighty pirate! And he is not afraid to tell you. Curse of Monkey island is the best point and click game ever, in my opinion. This game got the usual Lucas Arts charm you also find in Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, the othe 2 Monkey island games, (yes, there is only 3 of them...nothing happened after this one, nope, nothing, didnt happen). This means creative puzzles, lovely artdesign, silly humor, great stories, interesting characters, catchy music which will be stuck in your ears for years to come, and so much more. If you havent played this before, prepare yourself for zombie pirates, pirate barbers (who sings lovely btw), love, monkeys, voodoo, swordfighting with insults, el pollo el diablo, drinkmixing, coffinsalesmen, lost treasure, insurance fraud (technically not, but still), dandruff, jawbreakers and more. If I didn't already own the boxed version from years ago, still in working order, I'd snap this up in a beat (and still might anyway). Curse of Monkey Island is probably the best game from the series - a claim which must seem sensational given the fact it follows the two games which basically pioneered the genre. But this game is stunning; the artwork is comparable to classic Disney cartoons. The sound and music was lifted to a standard we now take for granted in games, and it was the first in the series to recruit voice actor Dominic Armato, who is now pretty much the official voice of Guybrush Threepwood. Listening to the characters chatting away is still thoroughly entertaining, especially thanks to the typically brilliant humour. The franchise peaked with this game, because they simply haven't managed to acheive anything close to it since. Its sequel wasn't bad as a whole, but the controls were terrible, and everything felt comparably lacking in enthusiasm. The Telltale episodic-series that released not long ago didn't feel like they belonged to the Monkey Island world and really lacked in every department. So get this game if you want the very best Monkey Island experience.

Title says it all. Also, my boxed version is still running. I basically just bought this because... well... because "vote with your money" they say. So that's what I do. This game is mind-blowingly awesome and so is GOG for bringing it back!
