Terraria

Terraria is by design half platformer, half Minecraft-style building sandbox. It pulls both of them off quite well. Gameplay is very Metroid-esque; you start with melee weapons but grow out of them quickly. There's lots of stuff to mine and build, and enemies offer a good range of tactics and difficulty. Multiplayer is handled well, especially if you're looking for a 'soft' game for friends and relatives. It should be noted, though, that the building side does suffer a bit as you reach the later stages of the game. There isn't a whole lot in the way of automata or advanced construction opportunities, so your epic fort building project may turn out feeling a little bit empty. Dwarf Fortress it ain't, for better and for worse. There's also some awkwardness with goblin invasions and hardmode mobs that pushes you toward a small number of layouts. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes games, old or new.

This game is basically a 2D side scroller except that you can destroy and rebuild pretty much any terrain. You start out bare, but you can quickly build some shelter to hide from the enemies that lurk around you. Later on you can adventure underground to mine for all kinds of rare ores to use for crafting. You can craft armor, weapons, magic items, misc items, furniture, building blocks and even boss summoning items. From time to time you will meet with a boss that has decided to attack you or you stumbled into its territory. It might present a challenge to new users, but if you've got good armor and weapons it's no problem. Build your house and later on a village to invite NPC's to come and live alongside, and many NPC's offer some benefits i.e. a store to buy new stuff. Craft awesome weapons and armor and defeat the final boss, if you can :) Finally there's also multiplayer mode available. A very much worth game to buy. One thing that bothers me though is that most enemies are automatically in aggro mode and attack you even before you come close to them.

So what is Terraria. Well it looks like a Minecraft in 2D. But that would be an unfair description. Terraria has more gaming features than Minecraft has. Yes of course, it isn't 2D but that does not mean it lacks fun. It is actually an incredible game, full of special events, bosses, content and it gets updates for free, not like pay-to-get-DLCs. The can be single player of multiplayer. Gameplay is odd but once you get used to it, you will love it. Music is great and graphics are just beautiful. Estimated time of play: 500 Hours. I owned it on Steam and wanted to buy it here too, to support the developers. Deserves the money, it is one of the greatest games out there.

I have grown tired of platform games. Played more than enough when I was younger. So my initial impressions of Terraria was "just another platform game" Boy was I wrong! Terraria is all about exploration, crafting, building and action You can literally spend hours and hours digging up materials and ores, meanwhile fending off creatures Then you can craft all kinds of armor, weapons, tools, furniture, clothing, decoration and much much more. If you are tire of digging and exploring, then fight a boss or slay zombies and eyeballs all night. I can't express how much fun it is finding new items, weapons, crafting and searching for new environments with new ore's. Play in "hard mode" for even more ores, creatures and items.

When I first saw this game on my friend's xbox, I thought it was 2d minecraft, like almost everyone else. But within five minutes of picking up the controller, I was amazed at the difference. There is over 300 weapons currently, and hundreds of baddies. Plus, there is a whopping 15 bosses at least. If you play minecraft and are tired of just the two bosses and 11 weapons, then play terraria. It is AMAZING!
