Fantastic piece of gaming history
I remember the first time i saw the system shock 2 boxart; i was about 8 or 9 years old, making my annual school shopping trip at Staples with my parents and older sister. Occasionally during these trips, my mom would let me pick out a game to buy..unfortunately this particular trip my fate was sealed, as i was forced to leave behind the likes of Diablo, System Shock 2 and other fantastic titles, for the latest Cluefinders game :( Fast forward 20+ years and here we are. In the intervening years i was able to get System Shock 2 on Steam, but the gameplay always felt a bit archaic and clunky, enough that i didn't spend enough time playing it. Eventually when i heard Nightdive was doing a remaster i knew i'd have to get my hands on it-especially with the rumored VR mode coming. This is day 2 of me playing it, and wow. I really messed up not giving this game a greater chance in the past, but this is THE definitive version of how to experience this title in 2025.

Great remaster of original title
My first time playing System Shock 2 is through this remaster. The textures aare sharp and crisp, the game is smooth, and the experience is awesome for ultra-widescreen displays. Loving diving into this setting.

Well Done
Overall it's a great remaster with some very minor issues. Such as missing/unavailable keybinds and autosave/quicksave using the same save slot.

Great Remaster
The original System Shock 2 is a favorite of mine since it released. I have a few installs of the original, mainly: vanilla, a modded vanilla. Now this one, which I prefer. Firstly, this renders quickly and has many graphic options that original could not possibly. This just feels buttery smooth compared to the original. I love the textures and models in this, they keep the feeling of the originals while still upsizing. The popular community mod doesn't capture the feel (particularly the hybrid) but this absolutely does. Other little things like item icons are higher res. The text in the descriptions is higher resolution and has a drop shadow, making it easier to read. Having achivements is great. You can just tell a lot of craft and passion toward preserving the original went into this. There's a 'vault' menu which includes memorabilia such as concept art, early game docs, box art, the strategy guide, original manuals, ect. Outstanding.
