Worked on windows 10

At least for me, no mods, troubleshooting, or dgvodoo where necessary in order for the game to work right out of the box on windows 10. Did get some weid fps drops here and there tho, that was weird. Otherwise, the game has a weird keyboard mapping layout, but it's to be expected for a 20 year old game, and can be changed. I played SWAT 4 first, but even this being an older game i'd recommend it as the experience is somewhat different, but familiar.

It works GREAT!

Fantastic reliving this great game! Tney have fixed the only issue ,which was mouse lag. It is now flawless! Much love for GOG, Galaxy and this game :)

Aged Like Wine

SWAT 3's visuals, controls and interface may be outdated by todays standards, but the gameplay here is solid and holds its own, even two decades after its initial launch. The movement is crisp, shooting is snappy and AI ahead of its time. The aim of the game is to save all the civilians and to disable the terrorists (either lethally or non-lethally). This game is more realistic than your typical shooter however, so running and gunning is not an ideal solution and coming up with a tactical approach to completing the mission is very important. Throughout the game, you and your SWAT team will be called to multiple locations around Los Angeles including houses, stores, a garage, an air port, the LA convention center, TV broadcast studio, etc - so there's plenty of variety and each stage is rich with props and detail which only adds to the immersive atmosphere. Regarding running the game on anything newer than Windows XP, you'll likely need Dege's Voodoo 2 wrapper mod to ensure the game runs correctly. Just extract the download and place the contents in the game's root directory.

A honest review about the game

This is by far probably the best tactical shooter game ive ever played. The gameplay is quite tactical itself and also pretty good. There are 2 Careers that you can play, the original 5 Man Career or the GOTY 10 Man Career. But there isn't really a difference between both of them, except the GOTY Career has less Missions then the original one, which is quite funny, since both of them have the same missions and the original one has all of them. But the 10 Man Career has more Weapons to choose, while the original one only has 4 Weapons to choose: The M4, Heckler & Koch MP5 (with the MP5SD2 supressed) and the Benelli Shotgun. While the 10 Man Career has so many Weapons to choose, including Modifications. But the AI can be quite broken, which isn't really a big deal, since on most Maps the AI work completely fine. But if you are playing a mission, then take the tactical vest, since enemies gun you down easily enough. So you should definitly buy it when you are a tactial person that likes close quarter battle. It's even on sale, so go buy it for only 5.49€.

Never go through unsecured doors

I’d never played a “tactical” shooter before and it was a rather interesting experience. It’s very different from your usual first person shooters, where you’re an unkillable superhero who is always charging in the thick of combat, destroying armies after armies of enemy soldiers on your own. Here you can’t accomplish much by yourself and you have to think about how you use your teammates. The game is very punishing when it comes to your mistakes. The words of Hoffman from Saw 4 kept ringing in my ears throughout the entire game: “You know never to go through an unsecured door. Ever.” And yet time after time I did and had to start over. That’s right – one mistake and you’re dead. Well, two or three, if you’re lucky. There are no modern day shenanigans like regenerating health, but there aren’t any first aid kits either. Still it’s fine, as the difficulty IS fair and with trial and error you will eventually learn the mission and complete it, and it will feel rewarding when you do. By “learn” I mean “get the general idea of how to act in various situations in the given environment,” because the positioning of enemies and hostages is randomized every time. The story isn’t exactly complex, but it’s there and I guess is okay. For me it was tremendously overshadowed by the novelty of gameplay. There is no tutorial, but us, old-timers, know that you’re expected to read the manual. All the information you might need is there. You will have to install the Last Resort mod and dgVoodoo to run the game at a modern resolution and a proper framerate.
