Clever Game

I do plan to play again as I missed quite a few hidden pawns. And my sense of exploration diminished if I played too long in one sitting so I missed some explorable areas. As other reviewers have said, it starts out strong but the last couple of levels became tedious. I got stuck in one area and after that I was never sure if I was stuck or just had to keep searching white or black space. One unusual thing I experienced was an every 60-second mouse lag/accelleration. I got used to it but it was annoying through the game. My mouse would hang and then suddenly it would accellerate across whatever space I was in. I found some discussion related to Mac users but I am on a Windows 10 PC so not sure what that was all about. I tried some general fixes but nothing worked. I have not experienced this with any other game, application.

Attempt to create a new Portal

A relatively simple puzzle game with minimalist design built around a unique mechanics. Reminds you of something, doesn't it? Sadly, despite the developers have managed to create a nicely working game mechanics, therefore did the most important part of the game well, and, at least at first, created interesting puzzles, they have failed miserably to arrange it into a plot. It wouldn't be a big deal if Superliminal was all about puzzles alone like Portal appeared at first, but the plot plays an important role here! Not to mention that when the game is 60-70% complete even puzzles themselves become boring and annoying. By the last third of the game end I was just pushing "W" waiting for the next disappearing floor (a trick that can work once, maybe twice, but not 10 times). After all this resentment it may be surprising that I give the game 4/5. Still, I liked the mechanics and if there is a sequel with a new, more profound, scriptwriter I'd gladly buy it.

Good while it lasts but incredibly short

I really enjoyed how the game toyed with idea of using the change of perspective that lead to some often quite delightfully surprising solutions. The puzzles are good, while the story bits are pretty inconsequential. On the downside, Superliminal is incredibly short. It took me just a bit over 2 hours to beat the regular campaign, including some time spent on head-scratchers. There is also the challenge campaign which is the same as the regular but with a limit to allowed moves/actions. I tried it for a bit, but I found it to be more frustrating than fun.

Not my type of game at all

I played this for a short time as I really did not enjoy it. The game was faultless and ran smoothly but I just couldn’t get behind the concept. Each puzzle seemed to rely on the idea that you could alter an object’s size by lifting it up and dropping it – why? Then you had to decide what to do with it. I know you are meant to be dreaming but it expects you to do physically impossible things, like actually reaching an object that is obviously out of reach. Hardly any indication of where you should be going and I am afraid I rapidly got bored and totally lost any desire to play after about one hour. From the rave reviews I am obviously in the minority and it is certainly a unique type of game but sadly not for me.

What a trip!

This is one of those games that will give you your time's worth in enjoyment and then some. The puzzles are fun. The solutions are wacky and satisfying. Now, you might struggle a little if you're not good at thinking outside the box, but give it a try anyway - that just means you have room to expand your thinking. Just remember that things aren't always the way you see them at first. The story is not complex, but it is presented very well. The ending is satisfying and uplifting, and it doesn't try to shove an ideological message up your nose like so much of today's entertainment media. On the technical side, the game seemed to work pretty well. I did notice one instance where I was able to get a puzzle into a bad state where it couldn't be solved. Granted, it was a pretty stupid mistake in hindsight. Without spoiling anything, remember the following: "If you lose the bouncy castle, restart from the last checkpoint." Other than that, the experience was flawless. By the way, thank you for selling the game half-off. As wonderful and creative as this game is, not every gamer can justify spending $20 for 2-3 hours of gameplay.
