Absolutery awesome

This game is amazing: it succeeds in paying a huge respect to its predecessors while extending the gameplay to meet 21st century's players expectations at the same time. It is so cool that it is a sequel and not a reboot! Here are my pros and cons: PROS: - Wonderful graphics and animation - Musics are great too, of course the retro ones but the new ones too - Game action is just amazing! Gameplay is tip top: devs made use of the extra-buttons to give more control. Skills of the characters are nice - Up to 4 players with a friendly-damage disabling option (a must-have!) - Works fine on a rather basic computer: I managed to play the game flawlessly in FullHD on a weak 2012 ultrabook, much slower than the minimal requirement (ultralow voltage, 6 GB RAM, GeForce 620M) - No-DLCs: lots of free items to unlock CONS: - Game is not so long (but so were the original games) but it is not so easy for an average gamer like me - I wish there were a sound test menu to listen to the wonderful soundtrack! I highly recommand buying this game. It totally met my expectations and this is quite rare! Congratulation to the devs for such a game!

Шедевр

это свершилось! то, что ждали годами и боялись, что опять не удастся... удалось и еще как!! вся команда разработчиков - просто шикарная работа! прошел пока на историю на нормале, сейчас прохожу на харде... впечатления, скажу я вам, что надо!! эти комбо и джанглы - просто праздник на нашей улице! на рутрекере в комментах столько хейта, но я буквально ни разу не поймал себя на подобных мыслях! некоторых боссов одолел не сразу, с нескольких попыток, вроде комиссара и макса. последние боссы тоже очень впечатлили, множество отсылок к Мистеру X! за обилие откровенных женских форм - респект и памятник художникам отдельный (привет Battletoads от Dlala и Microsoft...). персонажи очень разные и игра за каждого воспринимается как новая игра практически, и это здорово, реиграбельность отличная! начал игру за блейз, и она шикарна во всем, других слов нет у меня... до чего же правильно "сориентированы" были художники игры... вторую половину играл в основном адамом, когда он "разлочился". очень понравились доп. материалы: с удовольствием посмотрел эскизы и пр. было бы здорово, если бы добавили новых врагов из прототипов, хотя и базовый набор отличный. рисовка и анимация здесь конечно выше всяких похвал, останавливался и рассматривал атмосферу уровней просто так, эффекты освещения без малого также шикарные (минус - в паузе изображение блюрится и ничего не рассмотреть)... в сухом остатке, как минимум визуальный и геймплейный шедевр, и тут мне вспомнился мой любимый cuphead. как же все-таки выигрышно смотрится эта ручная рисовка! (запускал на днях duck tales remastered - так там 3D фоны воспринимаются как что-то абсолютно дешевое, чужеродное и убогое). рад, что разработчики выбрали такой "теплый и ламповый" 2D. Ну и вишенка на торте - региональная цена! просто отлично! P.S. на 5 уровне обнаружил кенгуру Ру за барной стойкой в новой графике, вот бы его в DLC добавили... если таковое случится.

It's really not the old Streets of Rage

I only bought this for singleplayer so whilst you should be aware of the multiplayer issues they are not a factor for me. Simply, I don't think SoR4 plays very much like the old ones. It's a lot more about juggling and combos now, as per the trailers to be fair, but means they tend to be strong and tedious. The enemies tend to be quicker than you, which is annoying and a lot of them have very long ranged rush attacks. Some can hit you when you are down and then juggle you - on one boss I repeatedly lost half my health when I got knocked down as an enemy would launch me from the ground and I would be juggled helplessly. A part of this is the AoE desperation move no longer really works as an emergency move. It gives you invicibility when doing it, but cannot be fired off when being hit so you have to do it before you really need it, or used offensively, but it does not feel like it works properly. Bosses all have their own invulnerability crutch powers normally combined with a rush move and I guess the only way around this it to launch your AoE move at the right time? I don't know, but they aren't very fun. When enemies start blocking your regular attacks as well, it just feels a lot clunkier and awkward than Streets of Rages 1,2 or 3 especially as you now can't close down enemies as they throw out jabs when you get near, so unlike the games of old you can't easily walk in for a grab. I do like that you can throw a weapon at someone's head and catch it on the rebound, that's cool. The graphics, whilst not a style I really like are nicely animated, so that's a plus. The music is completely forgetable, which is a real shame given the talent behind it. It's cheap, but sadly the real competition is streets of rage remake, which is free and with all the many options always going to be more like the SoR of old. This is a modern take on SoR and comes with changes that don't gel with me - it might have grown on me, but I'm not really itching to play again to find out

Return of a classic, now on MacOS!!!

In my review, I want to focus on the Mac experience across an array of hardware—lower-end to a little higher end—to try and give fellow Mac users an idea of what to expect. Please remember that your mileage may vary, but all-in-all this game delivers a good experience on most modern Macs. On my HIGHEST END machine, a 2009 Mac Pro (6 core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, AMD RX580 GPU, running Mojave), the game runs comfortably maxed out at 60 fps but only very minor hitches now and again, nothing terribly noticeable even if you're hawk-eyeing the games built-in FPS monitor. On my LOWEST END machines, a close tie between a 2016 12" MacBook (m5 CPU, 8 GB RAM, integrated graphics, running Big Sur) and my maxed out 2013 13" MacBook Pro (i7 CPU, 16 GB RAM, integrated graphics, running Mojave), I was able to get a surprisingly playable experience with the following settings: Resolution Scaling: 70% Graphics Preset: Medium V-Sync: Turned OFF On the earlier stages, you might be able to get away with higher settings (I had it at the game's default 100% resolution scaling, High Preset, and V-Sync on), but a good stress test for the game is Stage 6's boss fight and Stage 7 (titled "Skytrain"), both of which ground to a halt with settings too high. Also note that the experience on a laptop is best on the internal screen ... I found trying to run the game on my Thunderbolt Display was just too demanding on my MBP. Given that the device is nearly 8 years old, it's a difficult ask to maintain playable frame rates at 1440p, so I'm not at all upset over it. So, even on aged hardware, you can turn down settings and still get a great experience out of this title. I just beat it for the first time today after purchasing it last night, looking forward to unlocking more as I go. The game (and its art style) scales extremely well across lower and higher end hardware, so don't be disappointed if you have to turn it down a bit to get good frame rates, it's still a beautiful game!
