Still playing after 15 years.

I had a a chance to give it a try on a friends PC in 2002. after all those years it's still one heck of a shooter. More complex than Academy and better written. The plot may be linear but well that was a 2002 shooter :) what could one expect ! You have a blaster, stormtroopers and lots, lots more for a SW fan to get hiped! Gameplay is just great. The AI is really good and on Master Jedi. It kinda gives You "that" level of satifaction that nowadays computer games lack. Enemies group, regroup ( or I'm imagening :) ) and target fire prety nicely. Remember that level on Bespis with imperials just before Tavion :) Levels are well designed ( for 2002 ). They're big ( sometimes HUGE ), detailed and if You're looking for a challange than You'll certainly have one. If You're not observant You can even get lost for a moment. Even a skilled player won't go through without a hit. Prepare Yourself for traps, hordes of enemies and snipers grooping just to get You- and they know You're comming... Overall the game deserves a 5 star grade and I'm not a SW fan :)

Great FPS

This is a great game. You've got story, cut scenes, a bit of platforming, and lots of fun first person shooting. But wait there's more! You also get lightsaber battles, force powers, At-Ats, and some environment puzzles. all this and Star Wars to boot. I must say it is quite fun to be able to use the force to pick up a storm trooper and throw him off a ledge. The only cons are that some of the paths you have to take to go on in the game aren't intuitive. I mean do they really want me to search for a way out, forward, or up for that long? and also some of the boss battles took a while to figure out as well. This game wouldn't work on my windows 10 laptop until I found a fix in the forums and applied it. Must be somewhat computer savvy to fix it on your own. I gave it 5 stars because games don't get much better. I didn't fault the game for not working AS IS because it's GOG's responsibility to make sure it does, not the games.

The Force Is Strong With This One

Released in 2002, Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is the third entry in the now-defunct Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. This game follows the adventures of Rebel mercenary and former Jedi Knight Kyle Katarn as he returns to the Jedi Order in order to unravel a vast Imperial conspiracy and avenge a personal loss. Featuring a unique combination of first-person gunplay and third-person lightsaber battles, Jedi Outcast holds up extremely well in spite of its age. The main portion of Jedi Outcast is a singleplayer campaign spread out over eight massive levels, each of which is divived into several smaller sub-levels. The campaign can take anywhere from ten to twenty hours to complete dpending on the difficulty level and the skill of invidiual players, and provides a fairly even challenge throughout. The story is nothing to write home about, but is solid and features a few unexpected twists, and is fairly easy to follow for non-Star Wars fans. Campaign gameplay focuses primarily on cobat with blasters, explosives, lightsabers, and force powers, with a few platforming, turret, and vehicle sections mixed in to break up the action a bit. The standout aspect of Jedi Outcast is the combat, which seemlessly melds ranged and melee combat in a way that feels intuitive and natural. Enemies have different strengths, weaknesses, and equipment, forcing the player to change-up tactics and punishing button-mashing and carelessness. Although some weapons and abilities are arguably overpowered (such as a shotgun-type weapon that does double duty as a grenade launcher, or a force power that allows something similar to a Max Payne-style "bullet time" mode), this is generally not a serious issue at all. Likewise, the campaign can become frustrating at times, due to unclear directions, confusing level design, or overpowered enemies, but such issues occur very infrequently, and are momentary annoyances at best.

my favorite star wars game of all time!

I grow up with the "Dark Forces/Jedi Knight" series on old pc back in the day. likable protagonist, well-written story, cool arsenal of iconic star wars weapons and of course to play as a JEDI when you get you're lightsaber and force powers and then the game is a breeze. the only flaws i found in the game is the finicky enemy AI and some level design can be a little bit confusing to navigate. I have played this game many time when I was a teenager on my Win XP, great game! no wonder it's regarded by many as one of top 5 best star wars games ever made. many have addressed that this game alongside "Jedi Academy" its not compatible on Windows 10, the game won't boot up at all and send me back to the desktop, i tried playing with the settings and still nothing, but there's a way to run it on windows 10 (the same with "Jedi Academy") properly. 1. you need to download "gldirect5_opensource" zip-file, https://sourceforge.net/projects/gldirect/files/latest/download 2. extract the files, then open gldirect5 file 3. open "bin" file, then open "release" file 4. copy "opengl32.dll" to main directory of Jedi Knight II in "GameData" file and that's it. it works on WIN 10!!! you can launch the game directly from GOG galaxy or Jk2sp.exe and it plays great!. please people always check for alternative options instead of giving up and complaining. i already have few games that didn't work properly on GOG and have to find patch's or different ways top run it. it sucks, but that's the reality of playing old pc games on modern pc.
