Genre Defining
This Review is based on the old Amiga Versions of these games. There are only few games, that define a Genre for each person, and in some cases, the whole genre only exists of 1 or 2 games for some people. This is the case for the submarine simulation genre and both Silent Service games. I have tried some newer games every now and then, but somehow I never felt the same fondness with these games, as when going back to the good old Silent Service. And once you found the Yamamoto in SS2, and played cats and dogs with their escorts, trying to get the one good shot at that beast of a ship, without wasting your last few torpedoes on some destroyers you'll see, that behind those (even for me) old and boring graphics is an excellent game, well worth the few bucks you'll have to invest nowadays. Thanks gog for keeping these games alive, that defined a whole genre for some of us!
