Silent Hill 4: The Room

I joined GOG just to get this game. The original 4 Silent Hill games are masterpieces, each one bringing their own unique flavor to the table to create the best quadrilogy in all of video game history. I admit I was worried about how it would run, as many older ports suffer from performance issues in one way or another, but I can say its as smooth as butter. Playing this game after so many years is like coming home. Home to a spooky, murderous home, but home nonetheless. I feel like, or at least I hope, that Konami is getting the message lately. Silent Hill still has a very dedicated fanbase. The (hopeful) day SH2 is released on GOG I'll probably cry.

Enough said. Not a perfect game but better than half the shit released these days. My second favorite SH and SEVERLY underrated. The game gets truly terrifying in the second half and is masterpiece in the horror genre. PLEASE PUT SH 2 and 3

Clean port! Runs smoothly and I didn't really have to big-brain the controls. Last time I played this was back on the original xbox and seriously, brings back a lot of memories. This game has always suffered from clunky controls, but you get used to them pretty quick. Story-wise I personally feel like this game is one of the weaker but it still does a great job at setting a creepy atmosphere and making you anxious at every turn. For the price, this game is worth playing because it's hard to find such smooth ports of old survival horror games from this era.

As a kid, I never got to play the Silent Hill games on my PS2 because I was terrified of horror games... but now as an adult no longer owning old consoles, it's surprisingly difficult to simply buy any of the Silent Hill games for PC. So this is a nice surprise. The port is pretty dang smooth, however, I did not play the original - but as far as I could tell, nothing was amiss. I hope the other Silent Hill games get released like this, so I can experience them as well. I am sure there are a lot of people in the same shoes as me. But as far as 4 goes, I really enjoyed it all the way through. I found it creepy, had really cool set pieces, a great soundtrack, and a perfect game length (took me ~10 hours not using a guide).
