Silent Hill 4: The Room

I played this game to completion a long time ago on my PS2. I rank this as my third favorite SH game after S2 and S1. The 4K treatment of this game made it an awesome experience on my 65' TV. It really held up well visually. Some of the sound effects are low budget but the music is still scarce and creepy as ever. Took me about 9 hours total to beat it but was totally worth the price of admission. If you enjoyed this game back in the day definitely pick it up!

So glad to see Team Silent's underrated swan song SH4 has risen from the depths of obscurity for a new generation of players to experience. While definitely a departure from its 3 predecessors in many ways, it nevertheless delivers its own unique atmosphere and style that allows it to stand out from the rest in the genre. A must play for survival horror fans, here's hoping SH2 & SH3 get a GOG release in the future as well.

This was my favorite game of all time for many yearsl. Coincidentally it was also my introducton to "modern gaming". I hadn't touch any videogames since my Atari 2600 days in the 80's, so no surprise I loved it I guess. I Still have my Xbox original and PS2 versions of games 2-4, but my PC version, Which I've had since Circuit City was a thing finally started to die and was eventually lost. So yeah, I was really excited to see this on GOG. And just in time for Halloween. I hope to see Silent Hill 2 and 3 sometime in the future, but I kinda doubt they'll come soon as they have issues on PC. Anyways, its a great game that Ive played countless times. Yays on GOG.com.

It was a nice surprise to find this game here; I first played it back in high school in 2004, and was blown away by the atmosphere, which still holds up very well today. It's different from the first 3 games, but still an outstanding horror with some profoundly unsettling imagery, i.e the woman swinging back and forth above the spiral staircase. I've always felt this was the last Silent Hill game that was worth playing; everything that came after was just a watered down, poor attempt at replicating the greatness of Team Silent, not to mention those godawful Hollywood films they made, that absolutely dragged the Silent Hill name through the mud. This may not be the best of the original 4 titles, but it is definitely worth playing, and still has plenty to offer. I only hope GOG adds SH 1,2 and 3 next; and by that I mean the original versions of the first 3 games, I don't want those crappy re-voiced, so called "HD" remasters that were released a few years back. My hopes of ever seeing another high quality Silent Hill title have long since vanished, but I would like to have a working collection of the original 4 games on PC. I don't think that's too much to ask for.

Good port, sh4 is ALOT better than i remember. The story is intriguing and the ghosts and apartment hauntings make up for the overpowered combat. (you have HUGE invincibilty frames with a power attack, which makes the game alot less intimidating.) All in all id give this 4 stars. infinitely better than homecoming or downpour. Please release the pc version of 2 and 3 as well, there's no good way to buy those for pc atm
