Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri™ Planetary Pack

sid meiers alpha centuri is one of the best turn based stratagy games ever made. with deep unit cusomization and a deep thought provoking qoutes and a deep research tree. the new games in this genere dont even come close to the master piece that is alpha centuri. they just dont make them like this one anymore. my favorite faction is the morgonites basically hyper capitalistic and greedy (much how i want to be in real life) great with probe teams. graphics are a pench dated but i like the painted graphics look of the 1990's. when you research it takes a few turns and you get new stuff but the thing i like best is the voice over quotes that accompany the reaserch, the only thing that came close in recent years was sid meiers civilization 4 becouase it had the voice acting of the late lendard nemoy. you can make a verity of units with abilites, aromor, chaises, and wapons. you can actually do dipomacy a thing lacking in most "modern games". the breadth and scope of this game only taking about 100MB is trully amazing

You can design all vehicles from a kit according to your own level. You can create also your own political agenda. The AI is unique here. Each opponent has its own way of acting, also with the others.The civ game with the greatest freedom of gameplay

Great atmosphere and great setting.

Wish modern 4X games had what Alpha Centauri had: governors, unit design, as many economy/government choices, the UN, riots that basically took out a whole city, and as good storied opponents. Apart from not having resources from Civ 3 on-wards, this game still stands up pretty well. Though I think the best resource system was in Beyond Earth, since it had a limited amount of resources that were necessary. I will still bring this up on a WINE virtual desktop window occasionally to play Datajack Roze or the Peacekeepers. Santiago and Morgan were fun to play as well.

This was the one game that almost kept me from ever upgrading my Mac, and I am now spending far too much time playing it again. So fun, and so much variety from one game to the next, and the next, etc. It is amazing that this game is still so playable after all these years. So many other vintage games feel so clunky after playing the new games, but this one is just as good as ever.
