From the Warring States period to the present day, the mysterious shinobi have fought covertly across Japan. Some fight for the authorities, others for the highest bidder, but all of them have one thing in common: They kick ass and know how to look good doing it.
SENRAN KAGURA SHINOVI VERSUS immediately follows the events of SENRAN KAGURA Burst, revisiting the fierce rivalry between the girls of Hanzō National Academy and their sworn enemies from Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy, the latter of which have now gone underground and formed a mercenary strike team known as the Homura Crimson Squad. In addition to their old adversaries, the Hanzō girls must also face a whole new set of foes: the students of Gessen Girls’ Academy, who seek to punish them for their imperfections as shinobi warriors. Meanwhile, a new class is in session at Hebijo, and these students mean business: they oppose all three of the competing factions and will stop at nothing to be the last shinobi squad standing – even if it means leaving broken bodies and shattered dreams in their wake.
The stage is set for a shinobi battle royale. Heroines and renegades battle saints and sinners in a flurry of fists, feet, clothes, tattered remnants of those clothes, and sometimes underclothes. Each school has a story to tell, full of tragedy, heroism, pathos and partial nudity. Choose a school, prepare for battle, and follow the Path of the Shinobi.

Fantastic Warriors-lite third-person action game. Kinda throws you in, even if you’ve played the other games in the series—it just kind of expects you to know who the new characters are already, my one gripe. That said, the characters are as fun as ever, and the game itself is perfect for bite-size play sessions. Playing this on my AYN Loki Max at 1080p at 8w is perfect, and similar handhelds like the ROG Ally should similarly have no issue running it, with plenty of battery life. And it seems to be compatible with Mods Of Culture™️, too, if you know where to find them.
That said: Marvelous/XSEED. Estival Versus, Burst Re:Newal and Peach Ball, please. I need moar full-HD Senran Kagura in the palm of my hands. :)
Senran Kagura - Shinovi Versus is the second game of this curious franchise about ninja girls with flimsy wardrobes and utterly shameless fanservice, and if you happen to ignore that, you get rewarded with a game that despite its flaws at its high points feels a lot more fun than it has any right to be.
The plot focuses on shinobi schools and their elite teams, all girl squads of 5 members that can be "good" or "evil" shinobi. The traditions invites them to challenge each other at high stakes, and for each of these schools we get a different storyline that is very repetitive because in the end, all you're doing is beating up all the characters from other schools. There's a decent effort to add variety anyway, and while not always coherent, the depth from the continuity in the different school stories does add up.
On theory, this means the game should be an absolute drag, but because the battles are so fast paced and dynamic (completing a "mission" takes like 2 minutes on average) it only means it's not suited for binging or trying to complete it in one sitting. The experience remains solid throughout because there's a lot of care in providing the fun factor, every girl has different cool looking moves and rewarding combos that make it feel worth the hassle to level up the character, as well as different "modes" of battle (normal, ninja, frantic) and unique special powers that never stop feeling special to watch in action. Common concerns in fighting games like balance or difficulty are set aside for the sake of fun, and it ends up being a wise decision.
The rest is bells and whistles, but there are a lot of them. Individual silly stories for all the characters, a store with plenty of options to dress the characters however you want.. There are minor gripes with the controls, and the attempt to bring a fully fleshed world piece by piece of the story gets hurt a lot by the repetitive gameplay, but the core is solid, and it never stops being fun.
What do you think? SENRAN KAGURA SERIES... Posted March 27, 2022 in General discussion.
Of course I can never say thanks to me. I just wanted to buy the SENRAN KAGURA game from GOG. I'm sure there are many other friends who own this game in STEAM, right? So do I.
Starting with this game, we look forward to purchasing more series. I'm glad that GOG management looked at my opinion. I bought it right away because I was grateful. What kind of game is this? If you are curious, search on the Internet. You may be surprised by a lot of information. And make sure to buy it. Make sure you play. You will never regret it.
I am familiar with the SK games, though this is the first main entry I have played. I do not know if all the games are like this but it seems like the game is running at half speed. The characters are all moving as if they are under water and I don’t understand it. I have a mid/high range gaming PC that is more than capable of handling this title. The options menu does not allow for any in game tweaking to address this issue either. If all of the games are like this then I think I will pass on any future titles. If however this is the result of a poor port I may check them out elsewhere.
The game is rather fun at the first hours of gameplay, but it feels like a visual novel sometimes and that is pretty boring. Not to mention that the gameplay itself is very repetitive and can be very frustrating.
